Well except Carter last year, of course!
What is it with your protectiveness of Carter and Richards but willingness to dump on a guy who has been to three SCF's and won the Cup once along with a well respected 17 year career. Chris Pronger played on two bad knees with no meniscus cartilage all of lasst season and through the playoffs.

Pronger has been skating and he certainly adds a physical presence of clearing the crease. All things being equal if you had to have one guy miss, Pronger or Carter, it would be Carter 10/10, he does not bring as much as what Pronger brings. Carter should feel lucky to have played in the presence of a guy who has paid his dues over so many years consistently.

You misunderstand what I said. I don't expect Pronger to come back, play 25 minutes, ES, PP and PK. It will be great to have him back but I'm not expecting him to play like he did last year when he is only taking wrist shots. I don't expect him on the PP at all unless they put him in front of the net. It's just asking too much of a guy who's missed a ton of time.

The interesting thing is that the players back on D are all liking the extra time and doing well as a unit without Pronger. Obviously, that will wear on them if they go further but right now seems the D has settled.

Replace Syvret's 10 minutes with 15 minutes of Pronger. Profit.

Pronger will be fine, his presence alone on this roster will do some good. As far as his skating and conditioning he has been on the ice and been keeping a routine, for him to get back into game shape it will take maybe a shift or two, he is that well conditioned and is precisely why he takes the extra effort to get ready for the regular season a couple weeks early before the rest of the guys.

He still played enough games where he will be able to step in and do what he needs to do to get the job done. I do not worry about whether Chris Pronger is going to have an impact healthy or injured....now Carter on the other hand.

Both goals in the 1-0 games have been with Carle and Syvret on the ice.

My guess is they'd plug Nodl with Giroux and JVR if he's healthy.

Watch Syvret on either goal. Last night the forwards didn't help cover, so naturally the D should hold both their ground on the Sabre rush? Nope, Syvret went to hit someone in the corner, leaving Carle alone in front of Boosh. Carle didn't commit to either guy but just stood in the middle, so he's not blameless on the play either.

Giroux has to take some blame for the goal last night. His responsibility was to help Carle with coverage in front, instead, he went for the big hit at the sideboards.

You can see Carter's confusion, he didn't expect G to leave his man wide open.

I'm not a huge Carter fan, but no doubt when he gets hot he owns the ice, and often he goes off unexpectedly. I think the team will get along without him okay if he misses time since they survive his cold stretches all the time, but he would have been a nice weapon to have if he could find his game.

Jeff Carter could have his leg amputated and people would still say that isnt an excuse for scoring.

No, his injuries are definitely an excuse.

I realize it's not his fault that he's injured every postseason. But this is getting old, that's for damn sure.
More pressure on Giroux/Briere to carry us offensively (again)

First, Staal rifled him against the boards dangerously, hurting his shoulder vs. Pitt, then he gets hit twice with shots (one by Pronger) last year, now he clanks knees with Myers going to the front of the net.

It's not like he's getting hurt doing something dumb, it's just bad luck.

That was one of the funniest hits ever! I can just imagine the conversation after they left the ice.

If you'd like to send Carter to Buffalo, we'll take him. You guys are harder on your team than Sabres fans are. OMG he's your top scorer.
