Ruutu's suspension will be served tomorrow night (April 22) when the Ducks host the Predators in Game Five of the series. -NHL-

Not that he's the most important player for the Ducks but that's just absolutely ridiculous. Even the minor penalty was pushing and now they give him suspension? Is this really what the "new NHL" has become?

I watched the replay of the hit around 20 times just to see if anything hits Erat in the head, and I saw nothing. Shoulder to shoulder check. CLEAN hit imho.

Truly awful on all fronts. Not that surprising considering the Ducks never get the benefit of the doubt.

wtf? So Torres = no suspension for a blindside hit and Ruutu gets a game for a shoulder check?

NHL Wheel of Justice makes no sense!

This is another joke by Colin Campbell. It once again shows how bias this guy is against this Ducks team.

They claim the suspension is for "delivering a late hit". Not even anything to do with where the shoulder made contact.

This league is turning into soccer right before our eyes.

Unbelievable. The hit was maybe half a second late if that. Interference was already assessed on the play. Bogus job by the NHL again. Campbell is a piece of ****.

saw a comment with the right idea.

when does gregory campbell become a free agent, we should sign him so colin has to stay the f out of our business.

Campbell hasn't even issued an explanation or justification yet. What a goof.

Ummm is this serious? The NHL is a complete utter joke. A minor penalty was absurd. Absolute ********.

justification was a it "was a late hit." which is bs cause .3 seconds late hardly constitutes a dirty hit and you see later hits all the time along the boards after dump-ins.

only difference between this one and those is that they aren't admiring their pass. scott stevens would never have had a career in this "better nhl."

Wow, that hit was barely worthy of a 2 minute interference penalty.

What is the NHL doing?

N.H.L. No Hitting League

Ruutu was going to be healthy scratched anyway with Bobby Ryan returning to the lineup.

It's 0,3 seconds too late, contact is made ~0,8 seconds after the pass. Even a minor penalty was there and there, the referee 10 feet away didn't raise his hand. Suspension is an absolute ****ing joke, Campbell should fire himself before he embarrasses himself more.

God for bid they look at 2 2's charge and attempted crosscheck to the head on Lydman with 3 mins left.

Trotz put him out there to injure somebody and now he's whining about Ruutu. Really hope the Ducks demo that team tomorrow.

Is there video of this hit with a clock? Because I didn't even really think it was worth the 2 minutes. This is ridiculous.

Sometimes you can understand a suspension being extra long because there was no penalty called in game (like Pronger-Holmstrom), but this time he did get the penalty. You're telling me Ruutu's hit was as dangerous as Stoll's?

I normally defend the front office on suspensions. I was all for 2 games for Ryan, and more for Pronger's stomp. I was fine with Pronger's suspensions in 2007 (even kind of thought he should get an extra for the 1st one). But this really just floors me. But Giordano is still dumb.

I'm not even sure how Erat got that badly hurt on the hit.
