Danbury should petition the ECHL.

It seems like the Danbury franchise is doing pretty well, and I think we can all see the warning signs for the FHL closing relatively soon.

Would be nice to get an ECHL franchise up that way. Looks like Lewiston and St John are pipedreams.

Danbury: Hey, hey, hey, ECHL .... HI!
ECHL: You remember why you haven't gotten an ECHL franchise yet?
Danbury: Our arena is too small?
ECHL: Bingo. ... That still stands.

True. Maybe they should petition to the CHL. Evansville plays in a rink smaller than Danbury's 2,200 arena. Evansville, Arizona, Texas, and Dayton all average less than Danbury's arena capacity.

Danbury only holds about 2100 the last time I checked.

Bring in folding chairs.

I was just going off of Wikipedia.

Quote:
The Danbury Arena is a 2,212-seat multi-purpose arena
BUT then I saw the arena website:

Folding chairs won't raise the capacity enough to have the level of attendance needed to fund an ECHL team.

Yes, but they will help bring some WWE or ECW wrestling to Danbury.

If its only a 2000 seat arena, it'd have to be TNA

Let's not forget having Mickey Rourke come in as a showcase.

I was kidding about the chairs, but I do like the idea from a comedy standpoint.

We do need another team out towards this way to even out the Divisions. Maybe Adirondack when the Phantoms leave town?

I've always been told the ECHL wouldn't put up with Danbury's section 102 antics.

Been to the Danbury Ice Arena many, many times. It's perfect for where they are at, but in no way capable of being the home of an ECHL franchise. Too small, odd dimensions. Not workable. Fun place to see a game though.

They were in the UHL. The funny thing is, they would STILL outdraw the dead beat franchises that are Wheeling and Trenton every game!

UHL isn't the ECHL. And while I can't argue about them outdrawing Wheeling or Trenton I just don't see them being granted an ECHL team.

In my book(I know doesn't matter) it should be. AA Hockey is AA Hockey. This crap they over sell that is developmental hockey blows. I would take the UHL back in a heart beat. It was way more entertaining. the ECHL lacks physicality and rivalries. Also I would say despite the small barn(unlike Evansville in the CHL) if you can sell it out every game I would rather have the strong market of Danbury over the weak ones of Wheeling and Trenton.

A lot of that makes sense, but unfortunately sense rarely prevails.

True, but Dayton has been playing only 2 seasons in their 5500 seat arena. Give them a little more time to grow into it.

Didn't Dayton always switch between the Nutter Center and Hara?(with most games at the Nutter Center) From what I understand Hara's location isn't exactly in the best of places and it's also an old dump. I don't know from a fans perspective what was wrong with the Nutter Center.

I'm pretty sure it was that the Nutter Center wanted nothing to do with hockey anymore. IIRC, they couldn't wait for the day hockey was done at the Nutter Center.

I think the term "Arena" is being loosely thrown around when regarding Danbury. It's just an ice rink that had the bleachers expanded a bit for a UHL franchise. A good portion of the seats they added have horrible sightlines and the other aspects of the place were not designed for an audience larger than a couple hundred.

Danbury needs an actual arena with 360 degree seating.
