starting to show that our older D like Spacek, Gill and Hammer are too old to fill in for our injured D, most looked out of gaz last two games, cant blame them as Hammer has been filling for Markov absence for over 1.5 season now, including last year playoffs, same for the other two filling for other injured D... and Sopel isnt getting any younger...
so, extra help from our forwards will be needed, they did it last year, they can do it this year for this round against a far from great opponent.
I found they played a bit too safe defensively at the Bell Center. Instead of applying pressure on the puck carries they let the Bruins skate in and bush back our D. They didnt play this carefully in Boston. It was constant pressure and the Habs often had 2players on the puck carrier. One on the defensive side of the puck, and the other player applying intense back pressure. If we contine this method, we will win games 5and 6, mark my words.
Habs quit playing with the intensity and desperation that is needed to win at home. They were playing "Too Comfortable" with their leads and let up, allowing the Bruins to get back into the game on several occasions and eventually allowing them to win.
Let's hope the tides turn back to our side of the luck. We could have won both games we lost. I remember Bruins fans saying exactly the same thing after their two consecutive losses in Boston. Habs in 6 !
So many times in the last two years with all of the injuries, during the regular season and playoffs, I have thought this team is going down. And it's just then that they seem to find a way.
After that Carolina loss near the end of the season I was pretty concerned about whether or not they'd make the playoffs and if they did it would surely be from the 8th spot. Somehow they righted the ship and only missed getting one point in the remaining four games.
Well Habs I guess you know what you have to do. Maybe you didn't "have" to win the last couple of games and you don't even "have" to win the next. I'd appreciate it if you'd just win the next couple of games so my heart is saved a few extra beats. I couldn't even watch the third period and OT last night.
And please put either Halpern or Darche with Gionta and Gomez. Watching Travis Moen botch up scoring chance after scoring chance is going to cost me a TV pretty soon.
And the Moen, Eller and Pyatt line was doing well in a checking role.
Sorry, bud, but Darche has no hands, just like Moen. The reason he belongs with G&G is because he plays smart and KNOWS his limits while Moen thinks he can one-hand-on-the-stick-and-in-between-the-legs around defensemen.
