Just copy/paste the list and bold your picks. You can add the reason why you think a play will retire. You can also add other players.

Confirmed retirements = Bold
Signed for 2011-2012 = Underlined

*Skrastins, Salei, Cullimore, Niedermayer, Gerber and Wallin haven't retired from hockey, however they will play in Europe next season. A return in the NHL is unlikely for any of them.

Might want to throw Marty Brodeur up there....doubt very much he's retiring, but just to put all of the elderly on the list... and Tim Thomas too...he's a geezer.

On topic, I think that Rex will retire after this season... he's just getting too slow and sloppy at times. He makes a lot of real intelligent hockey plays, but its pretty obvious his body isn't capable of keeping up much longer. I could easily be wrong, and you don't play at 43 without keeping in great shape.

Hamrlik isn't retiring and probably not even considering it. Still plenty effective and has made it clear he wants to keep playing.

Steve Staios is already part of the panel on TSN. If he doesn't get a nice offer this summer, I can see him retiring to join the panel full-time as MacTavish likely won't be back.

Mike Modano said that if Detroit goes far in the playoffs, he'd likely retire. Then he said even if they don't, he's treating this like his last playoffs, so he's unlikely to be back.

Pisani.

Injuries and colidous have really affected his career. I doubt he gets a contract.

The last thing I want is for him to retire, but Kariya could decide to not come back.

Roloson doesn't seem to have any plans to retire:

Quote:
"If the opportunity is there, I'd love to keep playing," said Roloson. "Physically, I feel great. As long as performance-wise I'm doing what I needed to do to help a team win, then I want to keep doing that. Hopefully I get an opportunity to play again next year."
http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/i...ie-y-look-good

Quote:
"If I could, I'd like to play three or four more years," Roloson said. "But it's more what my body says, and my body feels great, no nagging injuries or anything."
http://www.tampabay.com/sports/hocke...cle1161396.ece

Doug Weight has already said he is leaning towards retirement, and with his injuries the past 2 years I think it's definitely time for him to hang them up. Great career though, he's pretty much done it all and has nothing left to prove. His back was very bad this year, he could risk permanent debilitating effects if he tries to come back.

I think if John Madden can't sign with a team in the NY/NJ area, he's done. He has expressed interest in coaching and IIRC he was having a house built in New Jersey last year (it's probably done by now). Wouldn't be surprised at all if Lou brings him back in some kind of hockey ops role like he's done with pretty much half the players that have suited up for the Devils.

Don't know how I forgot but i'm guessing Marc Savard is done hes still having concussion symptoms and theres no way that he should risk another one by attempting to make a comeback.

I imagine Modano and Weight are the most likely to retire.

I can't imagine Selanne retiring, even if the Ducks win it all. He's got too much left in the tank to call it quits yet. Then again, there have been a few guys that have retired even though they can still play at a high level and stay healthy.

I think most of these guys actually stick around, especially the ones 35 and below.

He had an awesome year up until the whole team went down the drain a few months ago, was PPG pace for a while. Can't see him retiring just yet

Not according to John Madden. He stated to The Star Tribune in MN that he and his family are settled on MN as the last stop. He said its the Wild or Retirement. Btw...... Wanted to say if he does retire, he will missed greatly. What a leader he is. The NHL needs as many John Maddens as it can get, especially now. Holy crap.......that Bobby Ryan goal was absolutely sick! Where can the Wild get one of those?!

Here's that Madden link.
