Yeah this team has been in a slump since last Sunday. They are going on the road for a while where the hopefully turn it around.

It sure is. 10-5 through the first 15 in April is much better than in years past where they dug themselves a hole in the first month by playing .500 or worse.

That looked like it was going to be pretty bad. Bailed out by the long ball.

That's a nice win.

Got to appreciate 3 scoreless from your bullpen.

What was it? 17 innings of scoreless baseball in a row? Good thing Polly and Vic came through with those dingers as Cliff wasn't perfect but he also pitched well enough. Won't matter how good your pitching staff is if you don't score runs. Still, I think this road trip will do them well. IIRC they usually play well at Petco, especially Cole.

Ninth straight game scoring four runs or less. Record during that stretch: 5-4. Get used to it, people, that's how this team is going to need to win games.

4 runs should be enough to win on most nights with the pitching staff.

As for tonights game, Oswalt is looking good through 3, Latos not so much. From what I'm watching it looks like the kid has good stuff but isn't locating, and along with the Padres defense it's helping the Phils as they're up by 3.

My problem with this, is that I think you really have to wait til the end of the season to compare. Can Toronto really maintain +41% through the season, or is that going to plummet as the season goes on? Is this guy comparing these numbers to a nearly identical sample from last year? He makes it sound like he compared a small sample to an entire season, unless my rye has kept me from reading this right.

If I were an editor, and someone handed me that, I'd tell them to get something new and hold this until the end of the season.

I think he grew it to offset his high pitched voice

But really I have no real opinion of it, good or bad, as long as he's pitching like he is so far. He did have a bit of a brain fart on the base path though

E: Also his facial hair could be worse. It could be bad, like Crosby playoff beard bad.

Im really dont care about it, I just thought it was funny with how people questioned him because of his voice. But he is pitching a good game tonight.

Whats that, 5 shutouts already. Cole Hamels is boss and I love this team, but the offense needs to get going soon.

Exactly. 2 runs isn't going to cut it night in and night out. Everyone figured the offense would take a hit, and after their first week or so they are finally feeling that hit. Of course it would be nice if it wasn't this bad. I know Hamels is a decent hitting pitcher, but it's not a great sign when he's got 1/3 of your team's hits.

What really irks me is the patterns that each hitter always seems to fall into when they're not doing well, such as Vic popping out and Rollins flying out, etc. I was actually texting my friend before a player's at bat and correctly guessing what each hitter would do. I think i got 4 in a row right before I got one wrong, and that was only because Valdez grounded to 3B and not SS.

JRoll is now JPop. Ben Francisco is not a good situational as well as the majority of the team, they have problems getting in extra runs by getting men home who are on 3rd and less than 2 outs. Over the last 11 games they have scored 45 runs or less in every game but they are 7-4.
