Tyler Myers had 2 big goals including an OT winner as a 1st year rookie...

I'm reading alot of excuses here...

The team has showed numerous times what they are capable of when they are fighting.

Where was the fight? To stop a rookie from getting a shutout?

Did you pull random names out of a hat? Gilroy wasn't terrible, but he sure as hell didn't improve.

I don't give a crap if he makes the team next year, that's irrelevant, considering he made the team the last 2 years, his "improvement" should lock him up a spot on the back end.

There are tons of players that improved this season, like Boyle, Prust, Sauer, Callahan, etc. Gilroy wouldn't sniff this list.

I didn't watch much of the game so I can't take part in the poll but there's nothing to be ashamed of in my eyes.
Before the season the "experts" were predicting an 11th or 12th place finish for us and we fought tooth and nail to finish 8th despite having such terrible luck with injuries and players (Gaborik) forgetting how to play.
Yea losing in 5 is a tough pill to swallow but if it weren't for some ineptitude from the refs this could be a 3-2 series lead right now (with this board getting ready to step off a ledge with thoughts of '09 )
C'mon Sather, hit a couple of home runs this offseason, maybe we can get Kadri from toronto for Cap'n Crunch, I mean Clutch

This team is soft without Callahan or just soft in general. They don't put fear into any teams. If you are being outskilled then you have to kick the crap out of your opponent. It looked like the only time the Rangers would be physical was when the Caps were physical first. If they were trying to play physical, they'd play undisciplined hockey.

But being emotionless and lost on the ice did?

Wait, it does. A goal that had no significance up until that point other than to ruin someone's shutout.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed.

But this is really the first time a season has ended where I didn't have a bitter taste in my mouth. The Caps (even though I hate their fans) were better than us.

I am truly proud of the strides they made this year.

Hopefully we can add Richards, and one or two other scorers and then we could become legit. I goaltending is set, and our defense is promising, sure up some scoring and we could be talking next year.

You're confusing "most improved" with "favorite". Gilroy and Boyle had the most room for improvement. Most of Boyles improvement came early in the year over last year, Gilroy has looked good compared to his early season and really good in the playoffs. Yes, better than McD. Prust looked good early, but was flat 2nd half, hence not improved. Sauer has been solid all season.

LOL!!!!

Hank was there and appears to have been the ONLY player to show up for the WHOLE game, well except when the net was empty the last few minutes. Without him the rags would have looked terrible today.

Meh, to each their own. I saw emotion on the ice from the rangers. It was matched by that of the Caps, who also had more skill.

Callahan turned into a top 6 forward, and was on pace for like 70 points, Boyle went from a 5 points player to a 35 point player. Prust grew into a bona fide 3rd liner with great penalty killing skills. When we acquired him he was a middle weight enforcer who could play a regular shift.

Gilroy was not good this year, he didn't improve at all. The him being better then McD statement is dumber then the "trade Stepan" thread. It was borderline retarded.

Time to open a new bottle of Jamesons and forget about this abomination of a playoff series.

So disgusted with the lack of execution and skill. Just not happy with the effort at all today, aside from Hank.

We need some serious help at C, on the PP and a new plan for entering the zone. Dump and turnover ain't gonna ****in cut it.

I thought Cally already WAS a top-6, I mentioned Boyle as "most improved", Prust's first full season was better earlier (what part are you not getting?), and Gilroy was clearly better than McD in this series.

Do you think I'm saying that Gilroy is "better" than Cally? lol

i'm in agreement with you that the team in front of Hank didn't show up today, and i'm amazed by that, but Hank didn't steal ONE game for us in this series and that what would have been the equalizer.

Lundqvist is suppossed to be our ACE that could've been the difference but he wasn't! he actually played better the last time we played the Caps in post season two years ago.

we choked that time too! Miller is a better goalie than Henrik.

NHL might be looking to place Gaborik into the League's Substance Abuse Programme after this comment:

Marian Gaborik: "It's frustrating and disappointing to come up short because we knew we could play with them"

yea, emotion for the first shift. Immediately after the first Caps goal the rangers packed it in. they didn't want to play anymore.

you can only go to the well so many times...

Nice effort, just came up short on the talent end of things. Next year should be better.

Plus if anyone wants to talk **** to Islander fans, those losers are all over twitter calling Hank the Queen for his playoff performance -- not sure why you'd call out one of the best goalies in the league when your team has Dipi-**** back there with a 300 year contract with the worst goalie stats in the league -- but whatever.
