Doan has said if the 'Yotes leave Phoenix he does not want to be a part of the franchise. He's got a list of teams he'd report to, there's I believe 14-15 of them. If the Rangers are one of them, Sather will make an offer before the draft. However, trading for Doan does take Richards out of the plans essentially.
says who?

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $62,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $54,804,166; BONUSES: $800,000
CAP SPACE (20-man roster): $7,495,833
7.5 mil to get rid of Wolski, Drury, and whatever else you have to do to fix this team.
Also i'm messing around on Capgeek, does anyone know the official outlook of buying out Avery? I remember RangerBoy said it was like 677,000 or close to that but surely his contract buyout is affected by Dallas who pays half, so just curious on his exact cap number if bought out, and if he can even be bought out?
It would be a Drury scenario if he comes, doesn't produce, and doesn't resign. That would be awful considering what we may end up trading to get him.
If he has no interest in moving the price may not be outlandish. I still don't see how if he comes in doesn't produce and then isn't re-signed is anything like Drury. Drury tied up cap space a roster spot for years and is practically unmovable. Not comparable IMO

Those bottom lines aren't good. I mean they REALLY aren't good.
Doan, Iginla...their prime days are behind them. Kreider should never be mentioned in the same sentence as those 2. Doan will be 35 in October, while Iginla will be 34 in July
Now Nash on the other hand.....mmmm....Young and lethal.
Nash, Richards, and Gaborik on the same team...Good lord...
While have a defender like Staal on the back end and a netminder like Lundqvist in his prime. I'd give up our first round pick, Kreider for Nash and something.
Step 1:Sign all RFA
Step 2: Do something with Drury, Boogaard and Wolski
Step 3: Sign Brad Richards
Step 4: Find someone who can fix this horrendous power play. FA or Trade
Step 5 Look for trades that bring in talent. Prospects expendable: McIlrath, Grachev, 1st and Del Zotto (only for high quality players)

Surely the rangers would just bury him in the AHL for the year and not worry about the cap hit?

It's comparable. Drury has dropped off big time as he has surpassed 30...It's a risk to give up assets to aquire Doan who's turning 35 in October. He may not produce like he's known for. He's another PF type guy. They begin to drop off quicker.

In order to get Nash on this team, assuming he's available, It would take at least:
Dubinsky/Callahan/Staal, MDZ/Stepan/Girardi, Kreider, and picks.
Krieder and picks won't get it done, you wouldn't even get a chance to spit out the whole offer because they'd hang up on you so fast.
those bottom lines are 4 of the 6 players weve had playing on the bottom lines this season, and they were awesome for us.
Your bottom 2 lines are fine but Hagelin is probably better served as a top 2 line guy in Hartford, and Avery I would rather replace with Zuccarello, and put Fedotenko for one more year with Boyle and Prust.

Dubinsky/Staal/Callahan? Umm, I wouldn't be too sure about that.
What Toronto did to acquire Kessel, I'm willing to do a similar move to get a consistent 30-40 goal guy. Whether it's Nash, or someone within a similar mold.

Not all 3 of them one of Dubi/Staal/Cally, one of MDZ/Stepan/AA, Kreider, and picks.

Just to clarify has Columbus management said anyone is tradable or are people just assuming because Columbus said big changes are coming that members of this board "potentially" see Nash as available?
Plus your package is over the top it wouldn't take that much. Columbus was heavily inquiring about MDZ awhile back so I would expect him, Kreider, 1st, and honestly probably a mid level cap hit going back like Wolski. I really don't see Sather parting ways with Dubinsky, Callahan, or Staal unless its Malkin, or Weber coming in here. Not a guy who's average pt total is 65 points or so.

And Nash is worth a lot more than Kessel imo.
I'm not arguing that. Nash is a better player. I agree.
However, I'm willing to make a similar move that toronto made to acquire someone like a Kessel. Consistent 30-40 goal guy. We have to find a team who can't hold onto their guy b/c of cap issues. We're in a better position to make a move like that, unlike Toronto. They skipped a step. We would be doing it to improve our skill up front. We already have a Gaborik in place. Toronto had nothing when they made that move and put tremendous pressure on Kessel.
Bottom line, if we can acquire a offensive player like Kessel for our 1st round pick-- I think we're at a certain stage where you do it.
For example..what would it take to get VanRiemdyk from Philly? How's there cap situation?
