However, I'm willing to make a similar move that toronto made to acquire someone like a Kessel. Consistent 30-40 goal guy. We have to find a team who can't hold onto their guy b/c of cap issues. We're in a better position to make a move like that, unlike Toronto. They skipped a step. We would be doing it to improve our skill up front. We already have a Gaborik in place. Toronto had nothing when they made that move and put tremendous pressure on Kessel.

Bottom line, if we can acquire a offensive player like Kessel for our 1st round pick-- I think we're at a certain stage where you do it.
Also, to take into consideration: Are you still considering going after Richards?

Because if you were planning on getting both of them then one of Dubi or Cally would have to go for cap reasons.

And, really quickly looking at the Kessel deal. Just look at this deal from a CBJ management perspective for a second. You are dealing your franchise player, I think you would need a tangible player that could come back and make an immediate impact.

With that said, I think something like Dubi/Cally, MDZ/Kreider, a pick would get it done.

Doan? Too old to be giving up on the likes of Kreider.

Why the hell would Columbus trade Nash? If they did I highly doubt it would be to us. So many other teams can offer so much more.

Players on my wish list via trade:

Nash
Burns
Murray
Brown

How about trying a Setoguchi experiment? Im not naming players to trade...

Setoguchi-Richards-Gaborik
Dubinsky-Stepan-Callahan

Still need another impact forward.

Only 22. I don't think he'd cost a boatload either.

I think Setoguchi is a product of the players he plays with.

I really am not that interested in him honestly. I would MUCH rather be interested in Ryane Clowe. He reminds me of a Rick Nash-lite in that he is a big body that is a power forward and a good shot. I think he would compliment Richards and Gaborik AMAZINGLY.

Avery-Boyle-Prust should be this teams 4TH LINE next season. I want bangers for the 4th line and these guys provide that. Drury should just retire. As much of a good centerman he is on defense and on draws, he provides zero offensive potential. Cycles die with him. He isn't big enough to play along the boards. He doesn't have the speed either. It's time for him to go. As good of a locker room guy and leader he is, it's not worth it for the cap he takes up. Is there a way to terminate his contract outside buying him out or retiring? The team won't Redden him.

The money aspect of it is fine as well. I believe the 3 million cap hit taken by Frolov will be split up into the extra money Dubi and Cally deserve. Boyle, Sauer, and Anisimov's raises will have to come from somewhere. Possibly McCabe's cap hit. Gilroy will get less than what he is making now. Doubt Eminger returns, unless it's for nearly minimum. It will really come down to whether they want to bring back Feds or Prospal or neither.

his last 30 games was played at a 47 point per 82 game season pace. Hardly impressive...Giroux during that same span played at a 74 point per 82 game season clip. by far their best player?

From what I saw, he was by far creating the most scoring chances, and was noticeable on every shift.

Even if he wasn't "the best", he was still phenomenal, and I don't see why Philly would move a cost effective 21 year old oozing with potential.

Stats aside, have you watched his game on T.V.?

Giroux gets ample PP time. Let's not forget that.

But yea, VanRiemsdyk was put on the 2nd line b/c of his play. He started off on the 3rd/4th I believe.

Giroux was actually selected right after Sanguinetti, 3 drafts after 2003.

i just dont see it....47 point pace is phenomenal? how many games of theirs down the stretch did you see, because to take your eyes over the actual numbers, i hope its a whole lot of games.

JVR is a nice player, but i wouldnt give up a whole ton of players to get him, which is what it would take to make an interdivisional trade.

Sorry, I meant Sanguinetti.

It was Mike Richards among others names like Brown, Kesler, Getzlaf, Parise that were all selected after Jessiman. You really can't make that **** up...That draft set us back for years.

I trust my eyes over the numbers in this case, although 47 points for a 21 year old sophomore is very solid.

I saw about 15 games of Philly down the stretch. He was horrible earlier in the season, I though they were going to move him he was doing so terribly. But he was much more intense in the final few weeks. He was creating chances by using his speed and size, something he was relying on his linemates to don earlier in the season. He's been the same in the playoffs.

And HP, just so you know, JVR plays the point on Philly's first powerplay unit, and has since the last 10 games of the season or so.
