Honestly, I think that we should start Nitty, but Nitty has never started a playoff game in his career, so we have to throw away how well he's done these past two games and treat him as a wild card.
You can blame it on the defense, but he's played with a defense all year that gives up a modest amount of turnovers each game and he is needed to come up big on them. I'll have to go back and look at the goals, but the third should have been stopped. He had a chance at the first and he was the one that turned it over, can't recall the second.
Niemi is probably capable of getting back but Nitty deserves the start. Just because Nemo is signed for the next 4 years, doesn't mean you gotta ride him and treat Nitty like an AHL callup.
He gives you the best chance to win. You just gotta stop turning the puck over like that.
Based on what? Also, he's the one who had a brutal turnover on the first goal.
Nemo has been terrible and I honestly think he should sit for the rest of the playoffs. Nitty has been known to have hot streaks. Roll the dice to see if he's on one right now. Certainly can't be worse than Niemi.
There really is no shred of evidence based on the play in this series that Niemi is going to give the Sharks the best chance to win.
Yeah, well, there is plenty of evidence for every team, every year in the regular season, playoffs, and finals that turning the puck over multiple times, you will lose the game.
If this team cannot grasp the concept of puck possession and puck support, why even bother? Do we need to even advance to the 2nd round to get absolutely destroyed? I got better things to do with my money and my time, then to see a "professional" team that won't even play the basics of the game of hockey.

So what is the point of a goalie, if every goal is blamed on defense on him? He is supposed to bail out his team, not give out 3 goals on 4 shots; one save being a rebound that leads to a goal.
Sure Murray sucks 2 on 1, sure Wallin turned it over, but his glove stank today and he gave up two goals because of it. The first goal was his turnover.

And that is just another reason why Niittymaki should be in net for game six. Niemi turned it over on the first goal and that was his fault. The third goal, yes a turnover, but a shot by Penner from way out that Niemi saw all the way and whiffed on.
Yes, they need to start better with the puck management but the Sharks problems in the last four games have been that and their goaltending. Quite simply, Niemi is a part of the problem right now. He's not the only problem but he is most definitely one at this point.
