The new TV's with the fourth color might change things, but the problem with yellow is that it doesn't show true on most broadcasts. It is over saturated. Logos don't show up particularly well on a yellow/gold background unless they're predominately black. The original mustard had white lettering for the player names that had to be removed because it couldn't be seen. Blue works well. Why change that?
Everything that we've seen has to lead us to believe that yellow is going to the forefront in the coming years with the heavily yellow ads. Then again I thought the opposite last year when they did the Black and Blue and then painted over the yellow in the arena. So really who the hell knows?
with all the yellow shirts in the store, and the yellow towels, I am a little worried. BUT I distinctly remember reading an article last year quoting someone with the Preds saying they were eliminating yellow from the color scheme all together. What sense would it make it bring it back, especially when the public is telling you they don't want it. Only way I would like it is if it was Gold, which isn't yellow.
I've never liked that cartoonish logo, personally. My issue with our current homes is that they look very dated\90s-ish...almost like ECHL or rollerhockey jersies. Some of the mock-ups I've seen people throw out look even worse.
Watching the Flyers\Sabres series has brought out some envy on my part...two teams with great-looking, simple, classic sweaters. Love it.
I think the third jersey was on the right track in terms of its simplicity. I can learn to live with yellow being the primary color (although I'm not convinced that's as 'done' as some are) if it's done properly, but I definitely don't want to see some garish disaster, a la the Thrashers' sweater.
