If Vaclav Prospal is on this team next year I will drop my season tickets. That man is done.

I want a player who will stand in front of the net. Dubinksy could fill this role but I dont see any signs that he will.

I've been watching games from the cup days and their tactic was drive into the zone and have Zubov and Leetch rip shots while Graves had everything deflected off of him and into the net. I know we dont have puck moving defensemen as awesome as Zubov or Leetch but anything is better than our failed dump and chase scheme.

We are 7 years into our post lockout rebuild and all we need is a first line center, another first line winger and a PP QB. All is well.

I agree, we need a Tomas Holmstrom type of player who will stand in front and redirect pucks.

What do you think Markov and Gagne will get on the open market?

1st order of business is to let Prospal and McCabe ride their horses uninterrupted into the sunset.

2nd is to some way get rid of Wolski.

3rd if you can, find a place for Christensen, Gilroy, and Anisimov.

4th is pipe dreams for Drury.

I feel good about surrounding these guys next year:

Dubinsky
Callahan
Stepan
Gaborik
Avery
Fedotenko
Boyle
Prust
Staal
Girardi
Sauer
McDonagh
Lundqvist
Biron

A PP QB (Mccabe is washed up at this point in time), anyone available that won't cost too much? I'm hoping Del Zotto returns back to form next year if he does he's hopefully the answer.
Marc-Andre Bergeron a PP specialist. I know he's a defensive liability but you play him against the 4th line only. Also , I don't understand , why spend money on a goon like Boogaard when you can have a PP boost from a guy like Bergeron.

There are rumors that we are close to signing a long term deal with mediocrity. Details haven't been disclosed yet but both sides are very close. I believe there is a NMC in the deal.

Hopefully Del Zotto comes to camp like he did two years ago and stay on the team. That way there will be no need to spend money on a guy like Bergeron.

Would it fit under the cap if we were to persue both Richards and Markov?

I forgot that Richards can also PP the QB. Something we have needed for a god knows how long.

Richards has never had below 62 points ever since his rookie season. He's a consistent player year in and year out.

Everyone who says "stand pat" needs to understand we have no elite players in the system unless you truly believe Kreider is the next Ovechkin.

Gaborik needs help and my mouth is drooling right now thinking what a healthy Gaborik can do with an elite playmaker like Richards.
You could make an argument for 3. He's played for and won a Cup under JT. He knows exactly what he needs to do to prepare for Tortorella's boot camp come September. So it's not like we'd be getting an aging super star who has no clue what he's in for.

His relationship and past experiences with torts should be very beneficial for the rest of the team's players (especially the younger kids).

Richard's a PP QB, first line center, first line scorer, and...he can cure cancer with his tears! Better have that $8 mill per for 10 check ready Slats.

He honestly makes every single area of even the slightest concern a whole lot better.

1) Leadership
2) #1 Center
3) Improved face-offs
4) Improved passing/skill
5) Improved PPQB
6) Ability to score 25-30 goals.

praying that Sather stays away from this guy...

Honestly, Brad richards is one of my favorite players but the Rangers need to stay away from big name free agents for a few years. Signing guys like this NEVER works out. He will be demanding at least 6.5m and honestly he is not worth it. Fantastic player, but he will never live up to the contract he will be getting on July 1.

Just stay the course and wait for the perfect opportunity to add the elite player. Don't just sign Richards because he is the only option.

I would think Sather and Torts will want to continue to add youth.

I think they want to add a puck-moving defenseeman.

I think they want to add a 1st line center.

I would be very surprised if Prospal, Eminger, McCabe or Boogaard are back on the team.

I still believe the Rangers need to add another player in the mold of Prust who can help him and take the enormous load off of his shoulders.

If I were to choose an ideal line-up for next season, it would be:

Dubinsky-Richards-Callahan
Kreider-Anisimov-Gaborik
Boyle-Stepan-MZA
Fedotenko-Konopka-Prust
Christensen, Weise

Staal-Girardi
McDonagh-Markov
Valentenko-Sauer
Gilroy

Hank
Biron

What I think we will all see:

Dubinsky-Richards-Callahan
Prospal-Anisimov-Gaborik
Fedotenko-Stepan-MZA
Boyle-Werek-Prust

Staal-Girardi
McDonagh-Sauer
Valentenko-Gilroy
UFA 7th

Hank
Biron

must be an extension. After 94', the re build should have been under way. All of those seasons with no playoff births and not even a single Sedin twin to show for it.

Going after Richards is a no brainer to me. I'd like to see them try to get a puck moving defensemen too. Markov if healthy, or maybe trading for someone like Burns. IMO a top line center and a pmd our are two biggest needs.

I'd love to see an actual reason why Richards won't work out. You say wait for the perfect opportunity to add an elite player? What exactly do you envision that scenario being if not this?

Anyone who said that about Drury was a moron. Drury averaged 58 points a season when he came here. Richards has never had a point total that low in his entire career.

1) he is already 30 years old
2) he is coming off of a concussion
3) he will be demanding elite player money (most likely nothing less than 6.5/per)
4) we will have to give him at least 5-6 years

besides all of that, our track record with free agent signings has been horrific. We are finally close to the end of Drury's contract, somehow we were able to get rid of Gomez's contract, and we found away to make Redden go away. We don't have to give out a buttload of money the first chance we get.

well that makes 95% of us morons. Most of us wanted Drury and were excited to have him once we signed him. Most of us said we became cup contenders after signing him and Gomez.

Most of you are lying through your teeth when you say that you knew Drury/Gomez would be a disaster.
