Tootoo: Offensive powerhouse?

Has Tootoo finally graduated from pest to legitimate two way forward? I don't think we're up in this series without his offensive play lately. I've been very impressed so far.

I think we've all seen flashes of this in the past, I'm glad he's stepping it up.

Consistency is always what has been needed in Jordin's game. He's shown flashes of brilliance throughout his career, but it's always come in peaks and valleys. Now that he's made the commitment to mature off the ice and get things in order there, I'm really not surprised that it's coming together for him on the ice as well.

An incredible game from Toots tonight! He stepped it up BIG TIME and was truly a catalyst for our team effort tonight with the great play in the 1st to get that puck over to Klein and grab the lead and most certainly with the beautiful pass out from the corner to find a streaking Smithson for the OT winner.

He's had a great series with tonight being the best yet. Let's hope he keeps it up!

Someone posted an interview last year (or maybe the year before) with a top Predators scout who discussed drafting him, and said they saw potential offensive ability in him. The man said that maybe they were going to be wrong but he still felt the potential was there and it wasn't too late for Tootoo to have that "break out". I was thinking "it's taking a long time and shooting into the goalies chest won't get it done". But last year there were more times when he was playing a rounded game (I wondered if it was a mistake and if he had lost his physical edge by trying to do too much offensively) and had moved past just being an energy guy and agitator. But he has really come on down the stretch this season.

Yeah, about a year and a half ago I noticed he had been working on his stickhandling skills. It's nice to see him put them to use instead of just hitting the goalie in the chest. Love him or hate him you just have to love his story though. Great guy.

I said at the start of the year that he could be a Scott Walker type player. He has the wheels and the hands but, as said above, he spent 4 years trying to drive the puck thru the center of the goalies chest every chance he got.

This year his passing has been worlds better than anything in the past. Worlds better. He has shown great vision and quicker instincts since coming back. He is playing at a really high pace. I like it, I love it, I want some more of it.

It seems to me that since his return this year he's playing much smarter hockey. I hope he doesn't lose too much of his physicality but this might finally be his breakout time.

Wait, if his improvement or current pace continues, does this mean Poile might know something on how to draft forwards? No way...

Of course he's 28, and has still only progressed from tough guy, agitator and grinder, up to tough guy, agitator and grinder who can help a little bit more in scoring. But I'll take it!

Amazing he was such a factor tonight, and Klein and Smitty, a couple other sometimes whipping boys also were so important with him. Awesome.

Tootoo is playing amazing, I really never thought id see him elevate his game this much. He has the competitiveness to do big things in this league not just physically but offensively. And this series/end of season he has really showed what he can truly offer.

Tootoo actually has creativity that not many people on our team have and hes been successful. Not to mention he gives it his all every shift. I love him, his number will be retired. It wouldnt be right to see another player wearing 22 for this franchise.

Uhhh.... he'd have to start improving leaps and bounds more than he currently has.

I dont think he was implying because of his offensive skills, but what he brings to the team. I couldnt tell you how many people i know started liking hockey because of Toots. Tootoo whistles. I wouldnt be the least bit shocked if his number was retired.

I don't know, I just think if you're going to put numbers in the rafters they better have been able to perform both off the ice and on the ice. Something as important as retiring a number should have some pretty damn high criteria IMO. That said, it would look wrong seeing someone else wearing 22 at this point.

It's because I picked his avatar. It's impossible for me to associate with losers.

Tootoo was great down the stretch, even better in the round one.

Way to turn some heads around the league!

I won't respond with what I'd like to because I like you.

And I don't want to enrage BFC.

Agreed. And I'm still scratching my head as to what Tootoo did if anything in this series for some Ducks fans to say he shouldn't even be playing.
