Michael Leighton is definitely not for the weak hearted or the elderly. You must have good cardiovascular fitness to watch Flyers games. I feel that after MFL's performance today that I should be entitled to sort of compensation for the things I've broken during his time in net; Walls, Remote Controls, Television Screens, Beer Mugs, Body Parts, etc.

I don't know, before this game, Jeff Hackett was up there. But now, I hating them both so freaking much.

He is clearly way over his head, was last year too, just pucks were hitting him. Lavy may a really dumb decision to try and spark the team by starting him today and it backfired. They got extremely lucky today.

He's an AHL goalie, always has been. It's kind of hard to hate a guy just because he doesn't have NHL talent.
I agree with you ! Hating players is kind of rediculous..He played bad, and that's the way it is.Being an old goalie myself, i kinda feel for any goalie when things don't go their way...A goalie is on an island all alone, and their mistakes are 100% out in the open for all to see...

During commerical breaks I have to stand up and use my entire body to hate this guy. I'm not sure which I hate more... Michael Leighton... or the people who actually think he is a good goaltender. I bet they feel about two feet tall right now.

Can't hate Leighton. I absolutely hate whatever brainchild put him in net to start this game.

More than anything else I pity Leighton. I obviously don't want to see him as our goalie but its painful to see how many people truly despise him.

I hate Leighton AND whatever brainchild signed him and then put him in net (ie. Homer and Laviolette)

So, is Bob the #2 on tuesday?

If Leighton is on the bench on tuesday night, i might bring a spear and launch it from my section.

As long as we don't get anymore #2 efforts from our FAUX starting goaltenders it shouldn't matter....but I guess it does

At this rate, Bobrovsky should start, and the Flyers should put Boucher into the game after the first whistle. 3 of our last 4 wins have come with Boucher replacing the starting goaltender.

I don't hate him but I don't EVER want to see him in net or on the bench again...unless he's playing for another team!

Honestly I can't think of a legitimate reason Michael Leighton ever dressed in this series.

I would hope Bob is the backup, if not I'm taking three shots of Jack everytime I see Leighton's face, and if he replaces Bouch, I'll hopefully be in a coma before Leighton makes the Flyers tee time.

he needs to be. leighton's performance tonight hopefully reminded everyone in the origination why he's a career AHL goalie.

Eh, and before today it was over .950 in the playoffs outside of the Finals. Pretty impressive for an AHL goalie - which he is.

I can't hate the guy. He's not that good, and somehow he kept it together enough to get this team to the finals last year.

Even with his awful play today, when he's on the ice for the Flyers this year in the playoffs the score is 4-4 - and they're 1-1 in those games.

Say what you will, but my anger sits squarely with the people that thought a 2 year extension was a good idea. Good for Leighton, he got a shot that every kid dreams of, and he ran with it last year. At the end of the day he's an AHL goalie playing in the NHL........that's on the Flyers.

Not sure I can hate him for that. I can definitely hate on him or anyone else while they're in the midst of sucking, but the vitriol after the game - it's reserved for super-talented players that just don't give a *****.

Why stay in the NHL and have people pissed at you when you could be the best and still get paid like a million?

No the vitriol is for a player who can't FINISH when he's thrust in a position that a lot of goalies would kill for....

You are right he's a career journeyman goalie with a short successful stint (apart from the finals when it matters most) that was an anomaly. Yet our brain of a GM gives him an unwarranted contract after Leighton had the biggest chance of his career to establish his credentials with just a decent finals performance yet he craps the bed and is not even avg (pulled 2x and under 90% save pct).

But you know what how bout we triple down on failure and make him our starter next year b/c he's such an amiable guy and deserves better. NO EFF HIM and yes EFF management and even the coach for trying to build up a guy who has shown himself to be made of sand time and time again. People keep citing his series against Boston and Montreal...Leighton did not carry the team those two playoff appearances by any means yet people continue to try and legitimize him because of his short successful stint when he's proven in BIG GAMES since the finals he's a choker....

Hate is a strong word... but I very much dislike him on this team.
