That would make a lot of sense, during the handshake line he had a few extra words for him. Definitely pretty cool to see they're pretty tight with each other.

I thought it would be more of, "Forget Rangers, you Russian. You come play in Washington with Ovechkin. Ovechkin make you good Russian. You play with Ovechkin you winning Russian."

I think Ovechkin needs to be a winning Russian first.

Versus will air some of the games, with emphasis on the USA. Go U.S.
Girardi and Staal were both invite but both have injuries.

Had a feeling Dubi's stress fracture was still bothering him, those things tend to linger. He played admirably nonetheless, we would have been swept if not for him.

So Gaborik's playing, meaning he must be healthy. That just makes it even more frustrating because there's really no logical explanation for why he played so poorly this year.
Second year with the rangers. Teams smothered him this year. He rarely had time and space when he had the puck on his stick. There's your logical reason right there. We didnt have enough talent and skill in the lineup to play with gaborik. Gabby is a sniper, not a playmaker. He needs someone to feed him the puck, someone who can attract players away from gabby.

Yeah it was reported that Girardi's entire body was one giant fracture.

So in other words Gaborik is a pretender? The fact is, topflight talents like Gaborik should be able to carry a line, not be the secondary cog.

Also I want Gabby to tear it up and get his confidence back. This is either going to be really good for him, or really really bad

I hope Bobby Ryan decides to play, USA's forwards are pretty weak as of now.

A pretender? Just because the guy has talent and skill doesnt mean he should automatically be able to carry a line on his own. He needs someone to feed him the puck. You can get on him all you want but thats the truth. He was smothered this year. He had no space on the ice. Opposing teams can afford to defend him heavily because his linemates, and well the rest of the forwards on the team are not threats.

Haha. Just encase the guy in steel and slide him in to shooting lanes.

I would too, but LA would probably laugh.

So, you're admitting Gaborik isn't a superstar then? I don't want to get into a pissing match about one player, but Gaborik is the "superstar" on this team and is paid as such. To get the kind of output and effort out of him that he he displayed this year is a digrace and really says it all about his intestinal fortitude.

Well, we didn't have enough talent and skill last year either, yet he managed to score 40+ goals. Too much blame is being allocated to Gaborik's teammates and not to Gaborik himself.

I think Fitzy is onto something with the new system being an issue, as Gaborik admitted himself today that it was more of a grind. Problem is, it still seemed like he was struggling down the stretch and in the playoffs, whether he was still trying to adapt to the system, who knows, but hopefully the adjustment period is over.

He was pretty freaking good last year, carried a team that was much weaker overall than the one this year.

Not sure why he struggled this year but he has shown he can carry a team to some degree

I'll try to watch the WC's this year but I just couldn't get into it last year. Maybe it was the ****** channel they put the games on but it wasn't that interesting or exciting.

Am I crazy or do I remember someone coming in and telling us Fasth was at least going to be invited to play for Team Sweden this season?
