Rank the Flyers #1

Just something to see us through what is inevitably going to be a long, long summer. Basically, just choose the player you'd protect first out of the entire roster. It'd be good to see a complete list when all of this is said and done.

I've put a poll on with all the likely suspects.

This is going to be biased towards playing well recently.

I went Richards, best overall player. Giroux is a very close second.

We're one of the teams with no clear-cut number one guy. The most important ones over the last couple of years have been Timonen and Pronger imo, but at the same time Richards is the captain and has taken this team on his back a few times, Brière always steps up when the going gets tough, Carter - despite what his detractors think - is one of our best overall players, JvR has taken huge steps lately, Giroux of course is up there, Coburn and Meszaros has been great for the most part in the playoffs.

We could perhaps use a #1 goalie though...

Id go with Danny Briere, it seems as if when he scores, the whole team clicks.

Pronger, then Briere and Giroux. Maybe Timonen is close too.

I don't see Michael Leighton on that list, so I have to abstain.

Richards. He is that heart and soul of this team, even if he isn't scoring he is trying to do whatever the team needs him to do.

I know a lot of people will pick Giroux because he is having a great year.

I went with the player I thought was most important to the team's success, choosing Pronger. If I had to protect one player, I would probably choose Giroux, based on age, but overall, if I had one game, I'd choose Pronger.

I'd say Pronger. Richards is probably a close second though.

2. Giroux now and in the future
2. Briere

For me Giroux with Richards a close second. Joint 3rd Briere and Pronger.

Last year easily Richards. This year Lavi's using him less as a crutch and is relying on Giroux more when it matters. Look at their TOI, Giroux on average is +30 seconds. That says a lot. Not to say Richie doesn't matter, he's just a compliment on offense and a shutdown staple. That's how he became great, honestly. He was forced into the #1 spot when Briere went down a few years ago.

Went with Nodl. Say what you will about the guy but when he is in beast mode the team ups it a notch. He's a great forechecker and a great skater. That makes him great defensively too

Flyers are 8-2-1 when Nodl scores a goal

I voted Briere for the same reason. The guy is the definition of clutch.
