Fox thinks we will be active in Richards sweepstake, translation
DL low balls Richards.
Richards and agent laugh as they use the kings to get big contract from Rangers or Maples leafs

The only thing that worries me is when Dean said that he plans to keep Greene for a long time, which was said after the Teubert Penner trade.

Loktionov will move to wing for most of the time this coming season imo.

Other than that we are looking great.

Drop ZUes

Kopi
Stoll/Schenn
Richardson
Lewis

Schenn becomes the floater and being the rookie makes sense.

We have four solid centers and with Loktionov up and mobile he gives us a 6th if injury requires.

The question is will we have Moller on the team next year imo.

Our vets will most likely go.

No more Zues
No more Poni
gives us two slots to fill with kids.

I could even see a few scenario's where we move Richie and give his spot to Lewis, hope not but it wouldn't be a great big surprise.

We still need a speed LW who can muck so it is going to be sort of interesting seeing who that will be.

I don't see us doing anything really as far as UFA's go and I am fine with that. We are set in goal and on D. We need a sniper but might have what we need in our own system (I think we do) so who knows.

What's with all the trade Greene stuff??

My moves:
Fire TM and Kompon. Either promote Stevens to the head job or find a PROVEN winning coach. I have no clue who's available to coach so I have no suggestions on who to choose.
Trade Smyth and a prospect for an upgrade on the left wing. We need goals.
Let Zus, Poni, and Harrold walk.
Resign all the RFAs.

I see a similar team next year.

Penner/Trade/Lokti/Schenn-Kopi-Williams
Penner/Trade/Lokti/Schenn-Schenn/Lokti-Brown
Clifford-Richardson-Simmonds
Parse/Clune/Holloway-Lewis-Westgarth/One of the 3 LWers

Doughty-Mitchell
Scuds-JMFJ
Greene-Voinov/Martinez
Drewiske

Quick/Bernier
Quick/Bernier.

Yeah Richards is less realistic then Kovalchuk was.

I don't think i can handle another FA saga like last year. How many threads did we have last year about Kovy?

Having two Richie's on the team would be pretty comedic.

A trade needs to be made to bring-in a goal scorer with speed.

What are the chances A-Mart gets dealt as part of a package to bring in some help on the wings?

Muzzen, Hickey and Voynov look to be ready to take the next step?

Unfortunately Greene is going nowhere, as much as it pains me to say it. You look up "Lombardi Type Player" in the hockey dictionary and you'll find Matt Greene. This management team and coaching staff absolutely adore the guy. Look at him being given a letter and a huge bloated contract pretty much the minute he got here.

One thing I would like to see added to this team is more "smart" players. Guys like Lewis, Richardson, Handzus, Mitchell, Scuderi and ofcourse Kopitar all fall into that group.

The Kings have to many guys who while being physical specimens or great athletes aren't exactly the smartest players. Penner, Brown, Stoll, Smyth, Doughty, Greene, Simmonds and Parse all fall in this group.

So one bad series and we should trade him? So was everyone calling for a trade of Quick last year? Should we trade Penner now? And Brown? Yeah he had one bad series but IMO he's such a valuable guy to have. Plays 3rd pair, isn't normally a liability whatsoever, strong and will clear the crease, plays the PK, stands up for teammates, and is a leader. I see absolutely zero reason to trade him.

We need Doughty to step up his game big time next year. I'm hoping this season has humbled him. As of right now, the Kings don't have a number 1 defenseman. It's pretty rare that teams win anything with out a legit #1 blueliner.

Gang I know everyone's thoughts are all over the place since the season ended but please stay focused on the topic. This is not a coaching thread or a playoffs postmortem. Please stick with roster-related discussion here.

Thanks.

I thought it was pretty evident that Mitchell was our #1.

He played poorly in last year's playoffs as well. At this point it is all about what these guys can do in playoff time. His good attributes get him carried away during these high-pressure games and he doesn't play well. I don't hate him or anything like that, in fact I like him quite a bit. I am shocked he played like this in the PO's again.

Defensemen like Greene can pull in a good player for us. Considering the UFA market is quite bare, probably better than we could get through that avenue. Perhaps we can even get a defenseman with similar attributes in another trade, or just go into the playoffs and season with something different. I wonder, should this happen, what kind of contract it would take to bring in a defenseman like Scott Hannan. Probably not much more than what Greene makes but we'd get a better player out of that swap.

You would also think next season that Hickey needs to come up, or it's time to move that asset along. I actually believe after next season he isn't waiver exempt anymore.

Can I start a hockey related A.D.D. thread?

This way, you won't ever have to monitor it.

My thinking on our D Vets is that we are ridiculously loaded down on the farm and not only can afford to move a vet, now is a fair time to do so.

I think that Greene had his moments but something really happened to him during this series that exposed several flaws. He is still a valuable and solid 2nd pairing dman and would be a nice part of a deal to bring us a speed sniping winger.

The other thing is that we have Davis D that we can also move and while he isn't going to bring back more than a mid level pick he is a solid 3rd pairing guy when used correctly.

Let Voynov, Muzzin and Hickey fight for the open spot and whoever doesn't make it on the team gets the 7th man come along.

Makes sense for us to make room for a kid. That said as much as I hope we don't you have to consider my boy A Mart as a potential move as well. He has established himself as a really nice young PMD who might bring us back a good return.
