We're going to have to deal with ****wittery like people saying he's been playing on a completely torn ligament for 7 years when it's not possible to do so.

And before I get called a hypocrite, linky to follow:

It said in the rds article that he has been playing with a seperated ACL... meaning it's been completely torn, according the the RDS clown crew.

I think it could be possible, with a brace or some other form of support, but I'm only a nurse...

Absolutely amazing. You can live/walk/operate fine without an ACL. A complete tear like Gorges, the ACL is gone. Not a minor strain/tear, the ligament doesn't exist at all. Nothing is there to stabilize the knee.

Quote:
The function of the ACL is to provide stability to the knee and minimize stress across the knee joint:

* It restrains excessive forward movement of the lower leg bone (the tibia) in relation to the thigh bone (the femur).
* It limits rotational movements of the knee.
To play a high level sport involving an insane amount of stress on the knee to extend, resist hyper extension, and rotation both internally and externally.... absolutely insane.

He obviously adjusted to playing with no ACL, but the fact that he was able to speaks volumes for his character and toughness. He'll be improved leaps and bounds - there probably wasn't any/a lot of day to day pain, but the lack of stability will be rectified in a big way.

Gorges is a beast.

I expect Norris Trophy calibre defending next year.

He was the Captain of Kelowna for a reason.

I hate when people classify another individual because he has made some things in his life being a captain of kelowna doesnt make him a norris trophy candidate... people have so unrealistic expectations....

He will win the hart ross.

Gorges said it. He said he was playing without an ACL..

So it might be partial torn but it speaks as if it is completely torn..

Lies, lies I tells ya!

But nonetheless, I'm very much looking forward to seeing Gorges back next season; he's just such a reliable defensive presence on the ice, and from the sounds of it, he's a leader in the dressing room. And now his skating is going to get better? Great news indeed.

However, I wonder how he'll feel when he realizes that PK has usurped him as Carey's BFF?

Can't wait to see him back next season, along with Markov. True character guy; I think he even captained the Kelowna Rockets at some point in his career.

With him healthy, and Markov and Patches back, we will already enjoy an awesome "free-agent" season. THe Habs have done very well with all the woes they have suffered this season. Just hope that they can all come back in top form, and that the Habs are even better next year. I am excited. All we need now, is for Eller and a few other rookies to have great seasons, and I will not be too worried about our near future.

Just need to re-stock our prospects shelf!

It was all explained when he got hurt and the operation earlier this year.

Relax before saying its impossible, because it is!

The ACL is there to support the knee. It was explained that he was using the strap to hold the equipment as support to "replace" the ACL while playing.

Yes, its unbelievable, but thrue. Now imagine him stronger and faster

Great to hear! If our D could stay away from injuries, we will have a great year next year!!!

Will this years knee injury have an effect on his contract...PG should be able to get him on a cap friendly kinda deal, I would hope!

Here's the deal: Old players get injured.Small forwards get injured.Injured players get re-injured.Get used to it if you see the same roster.

The Cyborgs will be back in the line-up next year. Watch out!

Somebody need to shop a cyborg picture with Gorges face and call him Captain Kelowna (spreading lies is fun).

I guess that means Pouliot is missing 2 or 3 ligaments.

He's the type of guy you really don't realize how much you're going to miss him until he's gone. I'd like to see a 4 year deal for him.

Seriously, if I were Montreal, I'd get his inner ear checked. He was never that bad at skating before.
