The tools need to be sharpened and that is not happening at BC
The only Ranger Kreider should listen to is Frolov then.

Team USA also adding New York Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh to its roster for the World Championships.

USA's defense is actually solid...who would have thought 2 weeks ago.

Playing in over 90 games this year will help them more next year than not.

If your argument is that they were mentally and or physically tired because they weren't used to the longer schedule, then wouldn't it make sense to have them play as many games as possible to condition their bodies for a longer schedule?

I would think that you would want them to play as many game as possible so that they could get used to the longer grind.
Not saying it won't help in the long run, but how many games is too many for kids who barely finished a full season? Stepan looked tired as it was in the playoffs.

If they're comfortable playing in the WC, go for it, definitely. I just wouldn't be surprised if he declined to rest up a bit, is all.

I doubt it, especially since (imo) a lot of the players don't take the WC as seriously. Stepan won't exert himself to the point of total fatigue. Who knows, maybe playing non-NHL hockey and hanging out with McDonagh and other USA members is relaxing.

There's a bit of "lost in translation" going on here. "Regain his strength" perhaps. The Rangers did not tell him to skip the WC so he can spend his time in the gym.

He's wiped out, physically and mentally. He's played four straight pro seasons without a game off, and spent last summer over here working his ass off. It's all caught up with him.

As for the first post... he's missing the WC because he needs "rest" not because of "conditioning".

Lundqvist will not play, because of his neck injury. It has been reported in a Swedish tabloid, with quotes from Henrik. Well, Hank wants to play, but Sather won't allow it, he wants Henrik to rest. Quite strange situation.

Also, to the person who said Torts saved Boyle's career, not true. Boyle saved Boyle's career with the help of that figure skater.

USA Hockey just announced that both #NYR Derek Stepan & Ryan McDonagh will join Chris Kreider and play in World Championships

Time for Stepan and McD to lobby Kreider on the merits of turning pro

Norwegian newspaper (VG.no) reports that Zuccarello is included in the norwegian roster for the WC. His hand was broken last week so this is a surprise. Maybe the injury was not so bad after all.

If they're comfortable playing in the WC, go for it, definitely. I just wouldn't be surprised if he declined to rest up a bit, is all.

There's over a week that they get off between losing in the first round and their first WC game. At their age, their bodies should recover and be nice and fresh by then. And even if they are tired, they will have 4.5 months to rest up before preseason.

A boxer sparr's for over 200 rounds to train for a 12 round fight

I'd say that him playing close to 100 games this year, pre-season, reg-season, post season and WC's will benefit him next year alot more than trying to build strength now;

Doesn't look like a strong roster. Did a lot of guys turn this down or are they going with a lot of youth on purpose?
