Yup, I also believe it. If you guys want to make room for Brad Richards, then Schenn has to spend the beginning of the year in Manchester. The year after that, Penner, Smyth and Stoll all come off the books and Brad Richards can move to LW, Schenn comes to LA

I never thought I would say this, but the Kings need a skilled guy more than a big guy....Penner, Smyth, Brown, Simmonds all big guys and none will score more than 25 goals or have more than 20-25 assists....It would be nice to have another Justin Williams type guy, a skilled guy who can distribute and shoot the puck and put up big points and holds onto the puck on the power play.

That's why I lean toward Jokinen, Tanguay or Loktionov making the team. We need that skill especially on the 2nd power play unit.

Fleischmann would have some potential. He may be just coming into his own, he looked great with Colorado. The downside is he plays soft and those clot issues he's had are scary.

Well, one issue is room on the actual roster...

Penner-Kopitar-Williams - Played together before two of the three got hurt.
Smyth-Stoll-Brown Played together before the line above fell apart.
Clifford-Richardson-Simmonds - Playoff line.
Parse-Lewis-Westgarth

So who do we take out? Someone can occasionally rotate for Westgarth or Parse but if the Kings are happy with the make up of the current team and re-sign all the RFA's and Kopi back healthy, there is not much room unless they shift Richardson down to the 4th line LW and that opens up a center spot on the 3rd line.

Or they trade one of those forwards for futures or picks.

I see them only adding one UFA forward or just letting Loktionov take that spot and moving Richie to the wing on the 4th line.

Best news of the day, per Hammond's roster update, John zeiler is a UFA. That guy made a windfall playing in the AHL. Good for him but I hope we never him in a Kings jersey again. I can't believe it has been 4 years since that debacle.

Brad Richards is 30. I think 6 to 6.5 will get it done. Rangers suck, as week as all the Canadian teams.
The Kings seem like a good fit and Richards seems to be a DL type guy.
Can see it getting done.

- Handzus' size down the middle will be missed.
- Richardson is a disaster in his own zone and not a viable center option.
- It's day 1 of the offseason and you guys are already penciling in Richards. Good luck with that.

IF, and that's a big if, the Kings are able to land Brad Richards, then I expect them to move Stoll out and have Richardson and Lewis fill the bottom two center positions. That is the only way they can fit Richards onto the roster while retaining everyone else.

Penner-Kopitar-Williams
Smyth-Richards-Brown
Clifford-Richardson-Simmonds
Parse-Lewis-Westgarth/Moller

Then next summer, Penner, Smyth and Parse will all be UFAs, opening up the possibility for Schenn and/or Loktionov (among others) to make the team.

How's Richards in the face-off circle?

He was 50.6% on the draw. He's no Jarret Stoll on the draw, but he's more competent than Lewis or Richardson on faceoffs. In the post season, the Kings had only one center who had a percentage above 50. Richardson won 42.9% of his faceoffs, Handzus won 41.8%, and Lewis was absolutely atrocious, winning only 40% of his faceoffs. That's one significant reason why the Sharks spent so much time in LA's end, they couldn't win defensive zone draws.

Some good defenseman and goaltenders on that list. Neither of which we're in the market for.
Only ones I'd like to see DL go after would be: Tanguay, Leino, Ryder, Richards, or LaRose. Oh and Gagne

I'd like to see us maybe make a trade run for Giroux. Seems like he could play either 2nd or 3rd line roles and be a consistant score, maybe just a pipedream

Alright, there's no way we're going for ANY dmen or goalies, unless we trade some of our own away. There's simply no room. For forwards, I like Gagne, Richards, Fleischmann, and Eager.

I don't think anyone is outbidding Glen Sather for Brad Richards. We can all remember Gomez, Drury, Gaborik and Bobby Holik contracts. Isn't it amazing to think Holik made close to or more than what Crosby, Ovechkin, and Malkin make today.

I think Richards gets heated bids from Leafs and Rangers.

I recall seeing somewhere that Richards isn't really seeking a blow-your-socks-off offer as much as he is getting a fair salary on a competitive team. I'll have to try to dig that up when I get a chance.

If my memory serves me correctly (who knows anymore ) and the above thoughts are true, LA would be a great opportunity.

Don't forget that wonderful Wade Redden contract.

But yeah, I agree. The Rangers need a center and have tons of CAP space. The only way he doesn't end up in NY is if he has some non-money reason for not wanting to go there.

Since no one is really expecting any big signings or trades, I say expect the unexpected.

Richards although not a LW would be an upgrade at center position so, I wouldn't be surprised to see DL make a strong move for Richards.

Tanguay although not a huge name, I can see him having a good year with the kings.

I also wouldn't be surprised if DL made a deal with the flyers since they're in search of some cap relief. A player like Carter won't come cheap but he can be had if we dangled Simmonds. Yeah, I know, I know, I still would prefer to keep Simmer at all cost but if we can land a Carter, you have to seriously consider it, don't you?

What I don't want are another 3rd line or 4th line gap filler signings. Just let the kids play than to sign gap fillers.

Go BIG or go home DL!!!

The Rangers have his old coach from Tampa Bay, it's a large market, you get a lot of attention and they have a crazy GM. And he'll get to be on Versus!

This one from last week kind of echoes what you may have read.

http://starsblog.dallasnews.com/arch...medium=twitter

He seems to want a stable situation on a team that can win. He should have no doubt the Kings can win, given how we've played against Dallas recently

Its clear from that list that the pickings are very very slim...going to have to trade to upgrade the team.
