I see.

Just curious, what's the star next to your name for?

Let me guess, your going to reply, "What Star? Are you crazy?"

What? Why? You get drunk, post weird messages with random capitalizations and we all laugh at your expense. I don't see any problems with that.

More Lubo vs Lidstrom:

Lubo was the #1 defenseman of the 3rd ranked PP. Lidstrom was the #1 defenseman of the 17th ranked PK.

While Lubo did not face as "tough" competition as Lidstrom (Qualcomp of .044 vs 0.128), he still faced the toughest competition of the team (well 2nd toughest, but he played with Lydman who faced the toughest). In the ES minutes he did play, his GA/60 was 2.61, compared to Lidstrom's 2.87. The 2 teams' GA was very similar (2.89 Det vs 2.84 Ana).

In fact if you look at ES GA/60 you get 2.6 for Detroit vs 2.5 for Anaheim, meaning Lidstrom's numbers are farther away from the team than Lubo's. I don't know what it really means, but it's interesting that both Dmen are worse than the team's numbers as a whole, and that Lubo's numbers are closer to his team's than Lidstrom's. I guess it's a function of the quality of competition, but what else does it mean?

Stats are all well and good but from watching both guys play (obviously I saw Visnovsky a whole lot more than I saw Lidstrom), Lidstroms defensive game is still far superior to Visnovsky's. The fact that Lidstrom was only a handful of points behind Vis and still provided elite defense is why he is a more deserving candidate.

That's just my opinion though. And Visnovsky is one of my favourites and I couldn't care less for Lidstrom. The PHWA got it right.

Well I wasn't impressed with Lidstrom at all this season. So in this case the stats kind of mirror my impression.

Lidstrom is still clearly better defensively. And yeah sure, I'd say he was about 6 points better defensively to cancel out Lubo's point lead. But I don't think he was also good enough to cancel out the difference in scoring on the ice, the difference in total TOI, and their relative impact on their teams special teams.

I'm actually quite fine with Visnovsky not getting nominated. I just wouldn't choose Lidstrom. Maybe Suter, maybe Keith, maybe even Boyle.

Suter, Letang, Yandle, Keith and Boyle all looked better than Lidstrom this year. Purely a reputation nomination on his part. He's still good but he's not elite on a pedestal above everyone like he was any more.

Visnovsky joins Team Slovakia with injured shoulder

link in Finnish:
http://www.mtv3.fi/urheilu/mmjaakiek...011/05/1322172

Lubomir Visnovsky plays his first game against Russia and plans to go ice only on PP.

Lubo: "This is a risk. If it tears apart I might be out of hockey for half year" @webnoviny.sk

Really WTF! the guy is injured, stay off the ice and how the hell Ducks give him green light with this???

he was interviewed in slovak television and he told that he was playing at 50% even in last season games not just PO. He has also problems with neck.
The deal with ducks was that after PO he will at least rest for a 10 days and then he will see if he can play or not. GM of Slovak team - Peter Bondra told in interview that he will not play before that - agreement with ducks.
First info was he will rest additional 2-4 days but last info is, that he will play agaist Russia tomorrow.
I had very bad feeling someone will took him out when they know he is injured.

Hope he can survive whole WCH and not miss a single game for ducks

Hopefully he can get through the tournament unharmed. It's a risky move, is playing in WC games really worth risking the start of next year?

This worries me. Love the pride for his country but still. Maybe because he won't be available next year?

Don't like it at all. Guess you can't stop him from playing in his home country.

I don't mind as long as he doesn't do any more damage. It's not selfish at all, the World Championships aren't in Slovakia very often, and this is a special opportunity for Lubo.
