I am going to be so mad at you if the canucks go on to win the cup. i want the sharks to win the cup first and foremost. second is i don't want vancouver to win it because a lot of their fans are infuriating. your fear of the hawks caused them to lose and vancouver to advance.

He has a "thing" for some teams; most of the time after that team eliminates him in the playoffs.

He steps up against Detroit and Vancouver, so that's good news for us this season.

I want to see a Marleau v. Helm race. That would be so sweet.

Sharks in 7. The fact that we stole home ice at the end of the regular season will be HUGE IMO.

I hope Thornton can dominate against Detroit like he did last playoffs and this season. If he doesn't I don't know if we can win. This is gonna be a long one. I'll say Sharks in 7.

Am I crazy for thinking the sharks actually have more depth than DRW?

I mean Pavel and Zetts, with playoff Franzen are obviously a force, but other than that I'm not sure how often the wings will have the puck, and I don't expect any D other than Lidstrom to really be that effective.

im seeing alot of negativity towards the sharks and the series hasnt even begun. i think detroit would have stuggled against the kings too. they had an easy first round opponent out of all the matchups. lets wait till the series begins and se how the first game goes before we think about rolling over

It's empty since the Giants won the WS.

Anyway, the Sharks handled the Wings pretty well in the regular season, but I like the fact that they will probably be considered an underdog in the series.

Maybe they can "steal" one.

Detroit has 12 players with over 30 points. Sharks have 8. That's sort of misleading since White and Wellwood would probably have at least 30 if they were on the roster the entire year, but that still says something.

If we lose Game 1, this board will be going nuts. Me included.

Just like the last series I'm worried but confident about this one. The Sharks will have to improve their level of play though. They have to clean up the defensive coverage and chip in with the PP.

Also Nemo needs to get back to regular season form.

He definitely dislikes Swedes. Look it here: going after Holmstrom, Franzen, Lidstrom, Sedins:

Unfortunately, he only does **** like that when we get blown out.

Why, welcome to the HF San Jose Sharks board. Please collect a complimentary supply of Dramamine and mood stabilizers, because every game and series is a roller coaster and bi-polar disorder is a normal diagnosis here.

Sharks are a substantially faster team this year than last.

Sharks have more depth on defense, and a more mobile defense than last year.

Shark's are MUCH deeper at forward than they were last year.

The big questions in my mind are:

1) Will Niemi play well. If yes, we'll win, if no, we'll lose. Simple as that.

2) Will Boyle play like Boyle should?

3) Will our best players show up.

That's it. There really is no point in debating with the Red Wings fans, we simply don't know what's going to happen. The Shark's have not been consistent enough in their play for me to feel confident in anyway. The tools are certainly there, but their ability to utilize them is a big question.

Detroit's Depth is pretty great (like 13 guys with a goal over 4 games, I'm pretty sure most players with greater than 10 goals in the regular season), but its spread out over more people, I think the sharks are closer to the "sweet spot" between having a lot of solid depth guys and having enough high priced talent guys than Detroit is.

Watch out for Detroit's 4'th line though, it can run circles around people (just can't finish any of their chances )

I'm not making any predictions with this one but a minor positive factor is we won both games at Joe Louis this year and a couple last year. I don't think the Sharks will be intimidated playing in that building like that may have been in years past.

no reason we shouldn't win. we are a better team than last year in many ways. our fwd corp is def better, last year we had an okay 3rd line with a slumping manny and a not very good checking line nor not very good scoring line. this year we have THREE good lines. you can only put zets on one of em, dats on another. we have the most deep fwd lines, and our defense while sucky in our zone has been great in the offensive zone. ian white gives us a great offensive threat, demers has matured greatly. boyle will get better, murry is a beast, and vlassic had a great series. every game we lace up 5.2 legit dmen.

from last year, they only added hudler, and the growth by guys like helm is countered by the fact that they are one year older (2 40 year olds, a bunch of ppl over 38). they limped in to the playoffs. sure they killed phx, but this phx team was worse than the prev years version, losing guys like michelek and bryz was just ice cold this time around. there is absolutely no reason we should not win this, we match fairly well against them, and tmac knows the red wings as well as anyone in the league.
