And it's gonna be even worse in the actual GDTs. If Wings win, it's because they are the better team. If Sharks win, it's because of the reffing.

i understand the doubts some of you guys have with our boys facing the wings....but the boys battled through some adversity and overcame quite a bit in that first round. no need to jump ship here. lets see what the series brings. hopefully detroit is rusty.

that being said its a new round and a clean slate.

i really hope and believe in thornton and hope he comes to play every game.

sharks winning game 1 is crucial in my mind. wish i could be there at the tank, so whoever is going, be loud, and wish them well.

as a couple others said already...3 things in my mind are crucial for this series.

good nemo or bad nemo?
reg season pp or first round pp?
taking advantage of home ice or not taking advantage of home ice?

I think SJ wins in 7. if we lose one of the first two at home EVERYONE is going to hit the panic button on these boards....but then we steal one in DET. best of 3, win both at home. 1-2 at hp vs LA was not acceptable, as long as we go 3-1 we should be good to go. 2-2 at home is doable in 7 games but makes it VERY tough.

IMO 3-1 at home and 1-2 on the road is more than good enough to win you a series in which you have home ice. going up 2-0 at home tho as opposed to splitting the first two would really put the pressure on detroit and i hope we can do that just like last year.

I believe you can cheer for multiple teams, but I don't think you can be a true fan of multiple teams. There has to be an unambiguous number one, or else it's not the same.

lol red wings fans can't give up last season "we didn't lose, the REFS WON" blah blah blah. this is a series we have to win so we can shut those fans up good.

ya i'm gonna avoid the stanley cup boards for this series. wings fans are no fun. they're like canucks fans except unfortunately they've actually won something.

At least most Canucks fans are either from Vancouver or have a legitimate reason to cheer for the team. The Wings' fanbase is 90% shameless bandwagoners who didn't know who Gordie Howe was before Stevie Y lifted his first Cup.

pretty sure coming in that this is a series that only Sharks fans think we can win.

on the other hand...that was probably the case last year too.

THIS. THIS. THISSSSSSSSSSSSS.

I hate meeting someone, finding out they like hockey, and getting excited.... then finding out they are a bandwagon Wings fan.

I'm just going to insist Wellwood is better than Datsyuk in the main board thread. Should have interesting results.

Yeah, it does. I really don't think that would happen. I was just trying to figure out a scenario that would give the Red Wings a weekend home game.

Pretty sure Habs' fans are pretty bad too...we just don't ever have to deal with them. Wouldn't mind dealing with them this year though

i know rest is always good but its typically a bad thing when you get too much rest right?

Going to be crucial to get off to a good start in this series.

Wings fan here (born and raised in Detroit area so leave the "bandwagon fan" comments for someone else please)

I was hoping that Chicago would win tonight because I would have much rather have had to play Nashville and their nonexistent offense than the Sharks.

I'm thinking this series will definitely go 6 or 7. I'm predicting Detroit to win because well...it's probably the inherent bias that comes from being a fan ...but I could definitely see the series going either way.

The old comments are worn out. The Red Wings have been old for about 10 seasons now. Yes, Lidstrom is old as balls but last I looked is still a decent player. Same with Rafalski. Bertuzzi and Salei aren't counted on enough for it to really matter honestly.

Scared of all the elite weapons that San Jose has on offense. I hope the Wings can do an adequate job of slowing down the big guns or else we are effed.

Anyways, good luck guys (but not too much luck!).
