Why the second half? They are only ¼ through the season. So are you saying he wont be a beast in 2nd quarter of the season?

I think the OP meant that he's going to be a monster the 2nd quarter and then a beast the second half. That's my interpretation, anyway.

you can tell he is getting his game together... he isnt there yet but you can see him working hard and he has the talent. the past couple games you really can see improvement, the hard work, the right bounces/positioning, pair that with his talent...

after the allstar break I really see it coming together for him, start dominating. he is on the way, not there yet

He's very much like Carter in his developement. I said it 2 years ago that he'd have his breakout somewhere around his 4th season. I think he's at least a full season away from really becoming DMINANT in the league. Be patient, JVR has made great strides this year and he should be even better next year. NEXT year is when he should develope the confidence (really he's only missing that and a few more pounds) to start dominating games. After that, the only thing that will limit him will be himself.

Carter SHOULD be much better than he's been playing this year. Some games he's great, others he's almost invisible. That shouldn't happen with him at this point in his career. Lets hope JVR plays at a top level more consistantly once he breaks out.

JVR was a beast on Saturday against the Devils.
he was by far the best player on the ice...he had wheels, had like 4-5 scoring chance, got a goal. he was unreal Saturday
his confidence is back up and has really learn how to use his body to go around defense and cut back in front.

Nice. I thought he'd have a breakout season this year, as he was easily the most impressive player in training camp (I work up the street from them in Voorhees). I'll take the playoffs instead!

Nice call...always defended him myself when the trades would be proposed. Same with Coburn. They are impact players when on their games..we're seeing it now in the postseason.

People weren't sure that JVR could handle the big stage (supposedly terrible WJC's, mainly because Colin Wilson couldn't finish a glass of water), but he now has 2 goals in 2 Game 7's.

I as well have been very impressed with JVR's play as of late...him and Giroux are going to causing a lot of problems for teams....

The way JVR is playing makes Carter indispensable. JVR uses his body and works hard. A little more muscle and experience playing at this pace and he will be a STEADY force. Carter doesn't hit, floats often, shoots from anywhere and is frsutrating as hell.

Trade Carter for Vokoun.

How excited am I to see JVR-Giroux for the next X number of years. Man, this is going to be special. No more are we all about Carter-Richards as the future now it is Giroux-JVR. It is going to be special

Timonen is dispensable because of Pronger?

Richards is dispensable because of Giroux?

Carter is dispensable because of vanRiemsdyk?

Do you see the flaws in this line of thinking?

Carter and JVR are different kinds of players who excel at different aspects of the game. Carter, as it turns out, is vastly important to this team's even strength play. When JVR is our best EV player for 2-3 years straight, we'll discuss him making Carter "dispensable."

Who said anything about Richards, Giroux, Timonen and/or Pronger. You are pulling stuff out of left field to try and justify your response.

It's no secret we need a goalie. Our team would be almost perfect if we had a bonafide number 1 goalie. We can't take on any salary and I'm simply saying that we can get a great goalie by trading a great player like Carter. With the emergence of JVR, we won't miss Carter as much.

If were trading Carter for a goalie(which won't happen because he just signed an 11 year deal), it better not be for Vokoun. Why the hell would we trade a 26 year old,35-40 goal scorer, and good defensive center for a 35 year old goalie? Vokoun would definitely be an upgrade but it's not like he's ever proven anything in the playoffs anyway.

Because it would be our best chance at multiple cups. We'd have no holes in our lineup anywhere.

As a fan of a team with way too many smallish skilled players, I don't think Carter or JVR are ever dispensible. As different as they are, they are both big men with high-end skill and a knack for scoring. Those are rare in this league.
