I'm liking the Versteeg trade more and more now. Funny the leafs even lose when they are not in the playoffs since there draft picks sinks more and more as we go farther into the playoffs
I want to know what you think your Roster will look like next season. What is likely?
I wonder cause I want to know how many $$ is left for a Goalie if Bob is 1 of them and Leighton again in the A.
Cap may be 62.2 next season.
Thanks
Late to the party here... and have not really gone through he prior posts.
Worked out these players and numbers before looking t the 62.2 est Cap suggested.

Total against Cap = $64.795M
Est Cap* = 62.2
Cap space = (2.595)
* Est Cap used is from opening post and only $2.8M above 2010-11 Cap... IMO very conservative
... Obviously my numbers bring the Flyers Cap to too high a total, even if the Cap is somewhat higher... There must be a contingency and the Cap hit has to be below the allowed Cap no matter what.
Walker could be demoted but a best that could net only $1M reduction... Boucher could not be brought back, but IMO a veteran goalie would have to be signed and at best only $0.2M would be saved, and maybe Boosh could be signed for the $0.8M
Powe could not be replaced by much smaller a contract... Maybe Leino could be signed for less, but not much less IMO.
...It appears that a larger contract has to be moved for a smaller return or prospects/picks... Maybe Hartnell (sadly) could be talked into waiving his NTC... It seems that a D-man my have to be moved and I believe Homer wants both Carle and Coburn, BUT one would have to be the one to make a large enough dent.
And this is of course not messing much with he committed contracted... Within the restraints of the NM/NT Contracts Homer could make a more drastic revamping of the roster... but the way this team is constructed, I'd honestly hate to see it blown up.
I'd guess/hope the above with at most Hartnell and Carle moved with young players taking their spots... But imagine that I am entirely off base.
EDIT:
Failed to bring up that the Rinaldo spot is a reach to fill Carcillo's agitator role... Rinaldo would of course have to be mature enough and NHL ready... If not, they would have to sign a player that is much cheaper than Carcillo would demand.
sorry, but that's awful! if we go with Bob and Theo, I wont be cheering for this team

You guys really need to start adjusting the salaries of some of these players. No way in ******* hell will Glencross stay at 1.3M for putting up the season he just had. MAB is a huge defensive liability, but great on the PP. We don't need quantity (yet we do need a minimum 20 starters), I'd rather have quality.

Carle, Versteeg, and Hartnell traded (in some combination, possibly with other prospects) to WAS for S. Varlamov and J. Erskine.
I believe Bob with a little experience under his belt, and a fellow Russian as a back up, will solve the goaltending issue. I don't think we need a "Top 5" goaltender, just someone to support Bob and provide support. Varlamov has shown he is a capable goaltender in WAS when given starts and healthy.

Thoughts?
Curious, you do know that back in the World Juniors (don't know the year) both Varly and Bob were the goalies for Russia? Bob was Varly's back up.
Another kick at the can.... as it stands I think Bob is closer to handle the duties sooner than later... so Turco/Osgood/Auld someone with experience and is better/has been better than Boosh would be best.
I think I'd rather this team without Shelley TBH - but I like what he brings to the team, as slow as it is

I'm aware. I believe it was 3-4 years ago. And that doesnt change the fact that Bob is arguably the better goalie today. In fact, I believe a lot of people said he was the better goalie back then as well, just not as experienced. However, Varly (at least in my eyes) is a fully capable goalie as well.
Washington's goalie "Problem"(3 Great goalies, wish we had that problem) will likely force at least one of them out this off season or at the deadline.
Matt Carle traded to the Bruins for Ryan Spooner + 2nd
New additions in bold.

Varly is very capable, but so far, he's been hit with the injury bug too much.

I doubt upshall signs for 2 mil when he is making 2.25 mil this year. Hell probably get something in the 2.75-3.0 range
1. Trade Carter for Brendan Morrow --> You get 1,5 m Cap Space and a powerfull winger. If Richards walk away from Dallas they need a new no1 Center. Morrow need a good team to show his playoff success, if you want to include a draft pick, do it yourself ;D.
2. Sign Konopka for ($0.900m) as free agent
3. Trade Versteeg and try to dump Shelley, Leighton or Walker with him. So you get only a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick because of salary dump. Carolina could use a rw like versteeg...
4. Sign Asham for ($0.900m)
5. Trade Carle to the Islanders and try to dump Shelley, Leighton or Walker with him.
Because of the salary dump within this trade you get a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick back.
6. Sign Sauer or Sekera for ($1,500m) or other cheap defensive dman who plays the body.
7. Sign Vokoun or Bryzgalov for ($5.00m) because i canīt imagine they will sign cheaper.
