One of the best things about the playoffs is that each year, each series develops it's own individual X-Factor.
It's good hype and makes for media stories, but if you have to rely upon externals like ghosts of playoffs pasts to be motivated, then you are already in trouble.
Having said that, somewhere along this series, someone please catch Mike Richards or Scott Hartnell in open ice with their head down!
Special teams. Their PP is a joke and it MUST get going. Philly is a better team than Montreal and they will not win this series without help on special teams. And Lucic needs to get going.

The playoffs are more about matchups and individual team strengths and weaknesses than who the stronger or weaker team is.
Boston is head and shoulders more talented than Montreal but it was a matchup nightmare. The Flyers are actually a better matchup for the Bruins than the Habs as was evident with our 3-1 record with them during the regular season. That's not to say I think they're pushovers. It's going to be another hard fought series but I like our chances Vs. the Flyers better than I do against the Habs.

Speed is the Bruins enemy and although the Flyers have a few guys who can burn, I hardly consider them half as quick as the Habs.
Physical game- equal, not a worry for this fan
Puck Movement- Flyers clear advantage with Coborne and Timmo
4 line depth- which I believe will play a much bigger factor in a more physical series is the B`s
Goaltending- no need to look at this'
Coaching- CJ has shown this fan he is far more willing to change than in the past, we`ll see, if he falls back into his old ways, he`ll be looking for work, heck, he still may be even if this one is a war which had people thinking neither team deserved to lose.
Special Teams- Flyers PP better, but not by much
PK-Flyers can be deadly
This one`s tough to call, if the B`s can steal one in Philly, they`ll win, if not, oh gawd

Looks like my post was merged into this thread from the "x factor" thread. So while I agree about your point whith Philly being a better match up, I was saying that I think Boston's special teams needs to get going if they want to win this series.
Philly has more talented and deeper forwards.
Philly has more talented and deeper defense.
Boston has more talented and deeper goaltending.
Philly has a slight edge in coaching.
Philly has a slight edge in special teams.
Boston has the X-factor edge.
Beat Number 1 hated team in 7 for the chance to play Number 2 hated team. I am not sure whether to love of hate this turn of events!
Seriously though, it will be a PLEASURE to play a team that won't be flippin' and floppin' and staring down the refs all game long. Now, we gotta keep our heads up too! Bring it on, and if Chara et al allow Hartnell to bang and crash Timmy, I am gonna be soooooooooooo angry.

Agreed. The Bruins are only the 2nd team in the last decade to pull out a series without getting a PP goal. Doubt that history will repeat itself twice within the same playoffs.
Revenge ? If Thornton is going to play he needs to be useful and attack Mike Richards right from the start to set the tone, whether it's by nailing him on the boards, a shot to the head or a little whack with a stick.
The key to win this series: SHOOT the damn puck!!!!!!!! Its not Price anymore.

Philly gets a LOT of PP's, they averaged 6 per game at home in round 1. So we need out special teams to step up and big. I think the PP will come around in this series, but that won't take much

ODATT really? How about this:
D - Timonen - Carle are very mobile, Pronger is extremely mobile for his size
compare that to Montreal..... Subban & Wisniewski were it far mobility. Gill, Sopel
& Hammrlik aren't mobile and Spacek is a huge cut below Subban & Wiz.
F - Carter, Giroux, Briere, Lieno & Zherdev are excellent skaters
