Ottawa - Chicago

To Ottawa: Michael Frolik

To Chicago: Ottawa's 2nd pick 2011 + Nick Foligno,

I assume, Frolik's RFA contract will cost more money than Foligno's ?

Why would Ottawa do this?

You're about to get that with our 6th overall and the 2nd round pick - 35th overall or whatever will yield a nice player with our scouting staff. I would say stay the course and play Butler in the top 6 and go out and try to land someone via UFA like Leino. Frolik isn't worth us giving up Foligno + the 35th IMO.

Foligno is IMO easily replaceable with some of our players in Binghamton, which is why I believe we can move him without any problem, and the chances of our 2nd round pick turning into a player as good as Frolik are slime. We also can afford to give up a 2nd rounder as we have 3 of them.

Whats wrong with using our 6th round to draft a good player, as well as getting Frolik? It would only add

Frolik replaces Foligno as we exchange them 1 for 1. He's averaged 43 pts per 82 games over the past 3 years to Foligno's 34... but is much less physical or defensive than Foligno.

The 35th overall is close enough to the 1st round to grab any droppers and this draft has talent down around pick 45-50.

Murray's scouting staff has drafted Silfverberg (39th), Lehner (46th) and Wiercioch (42nd) around that area.

I'm just of the opinion that Frolik isn't worth giving up a 2nd round pick (especially ours) and Foligno. I realize Foligno had a poor year, but I'd rather just march him back out there next year and take our chances.

Frolik has played quite well to finish up the playoffs. Highly doubt Chicago is interested in trading him. Value is close but its more of a quantity trade over quality for a contending team.

one good playoff series does not constitute us to trade a player who may average out to score 10 points less but is better defensively and physically and a decent draft pick.

I'm not saying Ottawa should do this deal either. They should be rebuilding and getting forwards in the draft. What I'm trying to say is that right now Frolik is more valuable now and if this happened they would call for their GM's head. Foligno is a solid player but, I think you're underestimating the ceiling of Frolik.

why would the Hawks do this?

Frolik was great in this PO series and we have 2 2nd Rounders and a 1st

To get Foligno and another 2nd? But, I feel the same way as you - except I wouldn't give up a 2nd and Foligno for Frolik (don't want him at all), so we're all good here I think.

Chicago has no reason to do this.

Frolik > Foglino and Chicago has two 2nds, and they're not a rebuliding team...

Sens will not trade that pic.

And most likely not for a winger.

Only way I move that pic is for a young pmd.

A young PMD? the sens already have an old one in gonchar, as well as 3 young ones in karlsson, rundblad, and weircioch. Why would they need a 4th-5th pmd?
