Ryan Miller, following a long season-ending chat today, didn't want to keep his injury secret any longer. He acknowledged the injury that sidelined him late in the year was a concussion. His head got dinged by four shots in a week, with blasts from New Jersey's Brian Rolston and Toronto's Dion Phaneuf doing the most damage, though it was the cumulative effect that sidelined him.
He acknowledged he did have a significant bruise on his collarbone area, but that wouldn't have made him miss the number of games the concussion did.
I sort of figured that this was the case. "Upper Body Injury," along with the team being super cagey about the nature of the injury or a time table for a return ALWAYS goes down as concussion in my book.
if miller can stay healthy next year like he did during the 2009-10 season...perhaps he returns to form. good news.
sidenote: the fact that he still played well throughout lingering injuries and a concussion - to me - speaks volumes about this guy's competitiveness. definitely the team leader, and i understand why the player's picked him as the team's mvp.
