Gauthier has been giving off some pretty good clues.
basically saying he's open to trading Gomez if the opportunity comes because of cap. Not explicit, but it's there.
For defense. He said more options are better than less options, hinting at the amount of money they have to spend this summer and the amount of good D-men there are available. Again not explicity, but definitely implied.

He said he was talking about anyone in general, right after that. Dumb journalists asking about whether x player or coach will be back next year; seriously now? They won't answer that!
Would you, as an organizational philosophy, be willing to bury a contract in the minors if it were deemed to help the team as a whole? Is this an option?

He also said that chemistry is important for defense so we can think there is a chance that he will resign at least some of the UFA guys.

After he said in reference to Gomez and cap room, that the cap will always be taken into account and if there are chances to improve it he will.
basically he's saying, I don't guarentee anything, but if any opportunity comes up he;ll inquire.

Very true, good point. I like Scott and I have confidence this year was purely an aberration, but no doubt, if we can improve on that cap space then we need to look into it.
My respect for Gauthier has climbed so far; the man is so classy and almost stoic.

Yup. I love his composure and comportment in this press conference. He's not saying much, but saying enough to shut people up.
Dear god, did he just say "We're looking at all options. Mr. Markov is a player many teams would like to have him?!"
I have a bad feeling about this.
Dude he can't guarentee a signing. Who knows if Markov wants to wait until July 1st to see whats out there. He obviously won't reveal these details. He said Markov is a guy they'd love to have back, but they'll see what happens in the coming days.

He would answer something along the lines of: Yes, but we have to keep all options available, such as maybe keeping player xyz would also help the team.
