If that package was all it would take to get Evgeni Malkin, then I would be an ecstatic Leaf fan. Obviously it would take a lot more than that, and as such would likely gut the Leafs' organization of all viable young talent; thus, trying to acquire Malkin through trade is simply not a feasible plan for the Leafs.

Not only that, but Pittsburgh wouldn't want to let Malkin go anyway as he's far too valuable a player for them.

The only way Toronto has any chance at all of acquiring Malkin is if he decides to become an unrestricted free agent after his current contract expires, AND he would have to want to sign in hockey-mad Toronto.

Ultimately, this proposal is nothing more than some blogger's wet-dream.

i could see #1, straight up though.

Shades of niewy-iggy.

Dallas got 30-36 out of niewendyk though. Assuming he re-signs, LA gets 34-40 of iginla, which is a big difference. Iggy's 7M cap/salary may make this harder in the cap world as well.

Don't see any of these as mutually good for both teams, except possibly

9) PHI: Evgeni Nabokov, Tomas Vokun, Jean-Sébastien Giguère.
( ???): Phili prospects

Philly might have interest in Vokun? [Volkun?} if the price is right...

under Murrays system we squeeze out 15-18 goals from iggy.
