I know its too early to tell with the roster not being set. However, one question I have not seen yet but of course will like to address before the start of the season is which teams in the East do you see making the playoffs???
You can answer this question any way you want.
Possible catagories-
Definites
Most likely
Bubbles
Hell freezing over
Please keep in mind the trend is usually at least one cinderalla team and one playoff team have a bad year or a playoff team in rebuilding mode
I would put money on the cinderalla team being Pittsburgh with Atlanta be a close 2nd.
The downwird spiral team.... ??? Too many to chose
Too early to tell, but I'd put us on the bubble, along with Philly, who is going to have a feast or famine year with the moves they've made. Ottawa, as always, looks strong, but Hasek/Emery sounds like a downgrade from Lalime/Prusek to me.
New Jersey
Boston
Ottawa
Toronto
Tampa Bay
New York Islanders
Philly
last team is up in the air between....Pittsburg, Montreal, Flordia and Atlanta
I would be suprised if Tampa Bay makes it. I know they won the cup and all. But they had to keep their core players together and obviously they havent done that. I think they are a candidate for the downwird spiral

Hasek is a major upgrade from lalime.Pat was not a great the d made him look alot better then he was.
1 - Ottawa
2 - Tampa Bay
3 - Philadelphia
4 - Florida
5 - Boston
6 - Toronto
7 - Buffalo
8 - New Jersey
9 - Atlanta
10 - Montreal
11 - Pittsburgh
12 - NY Islanders
13 - NY Rangers
14 - Washington
15 - Carolina
'das right.
Sabres making the playoffs?!?? And the 7th spot?? AND OVER THE ISLANDERS!??? Dude i dont know what your smoking, but take a look at NYI's lineup and tell me they wont make the playoffs again over the Sabres. I'll bet you any amount of money that the Sabres finish worse than NYI.

I'm looking at their roster right now. I've never seen a softer one. I think they downgraded heavily this off-season.
Lets remember that Buffalo is in a hard ass division, with the Senators, Bruins, Leafs, and Canadians having very solid teams, and at least two of them being contenders, it's going to be a tough 32 games this season.

You obviously know nothing about hockey. Adding Satan, Zhitnik, Sopel, and Mike York with a few more is downgraded heavily? I've honestly never heard anything so stupid in my life.
So if NYI downgraded heavily, then the Sabres must have upgraded heavily right?? Gimme a break...
Buffalo will be lucky to find themsleves knocking on the door for the 8th playoff spot. On paper they're not a playoff contender, but we all know they don't play the games on paper. Still, I really don't see it with no key additions, and a downgrade in the scoring and back end departments.
Florida and Pittsburgh should be in this year. Buffalo, the Rags, and the Caps better have their brooms handy if you ask me....
I think we can challege for the 8th spot. Remember in the New NHL You have to count on speed more than anything. The last time I looked Buffalo had a lot of it.

Yes, but there are two other new rules this season that will hurt us:
1) You have to score
2) You have to stop the other team from scoring on you
You can be as fast as you want, but speed won't keep the puck from going in your own net. Trust me, I hope I'm wrong, but our division got a helluva lot tougher in the past two weeks. We have some talented players up front, but we're still missing some pieces relating to Rule 2 if you ask me.
