What about Mariusz Czerkawski?

Unresticted free agent. RW (Shoots left). 33 years ago. Made $2.6 million last year (24% rollback - $1,967,000).

Honestly I know nothing about him the player or him the person. But judging by his stats he could be that winger that's missing from Sundin's line.

O'Neil - Sundin - Czerkawski
Tucker - Allison - Lindros

Sick.

So what's the story on him?

He is awful. Speed, finesse and hands are what I believe are needed right now; and I can live with soft - but I draw the line at Czerkawski.

Not unless he's signing to play with the Marlies, and be an injury callup.
Anything more then that and I don't think he's worth it anymore.

His only good points were his speed and shot, and he no longer has a particularly deadly shot and hasn't 01-02.
Unless he's got an elite linemate he can't even be counted on for much more then 10G anymore. And if he isn't scoring then he's a huge detriment to the team, as he's incomprehensibly bad defensively... he makes Berezin look half way decent.
Add that into the fact that he's relatively inconsistent and you've got a player whose deteriorated dramatically in recent years.

From my perspective, I think the Leafs getting Chow is a great idea. He's got a nifty move whewre he backhands it behind him and kicks up the puck back to his stick.

I'd rather get 42 year old Steve Thomas than Czerkawski. At least I know he's a dependable left winger.

Yeah, he also has another nifty move where he gives up the puck on the offensive blueline. Only to watch the opposing team go on a transition break and score. He uses that move alot. Trust me you do not want him. He is easily more of a liability than Berezin or P.Bure.

As an Isle fan I just want to say Czerkawski is so bad that he would even make Aki Berg a fan favorite. And, I've noticed that 99% of leaf fans seem to dislike Berg.

The only thing Czerkawski can help a team on; is the shootout. Even then I wouldn't be suprised if he ended up with a negative (+/-) rating.

Holy over-reacting batman. The man has some skill, and yes he's soft but it's being over-exaggerated here. Not saying there aren't better options, but Marius isn't as scrubtacular as some of you are making him out to be.

We might as well end the thread here -- you have said all there is that needs to be said about this sort of player. well put!
