But Boogaard can be sent down to the minors, and even if we get rid of Wolski and use that money to buyout Drury and Avery then it would still work out.
You can only go over in the summer cap by 10%. Boogaard, Redden, will be on the cap on July 1st when we have to sign players. We don't have that much cap room to sign all those players. All these numbers are obviously just estimates but I think somewhat realistic.

Brandon Dubinsky ($3.750m) / Erik Christensen ($0.925m) / Ryan Callahan ($3.750m)
Ruslan Fedotenko ($1.000m) / Brian Boyle ($1.250m) / Mats Zuccarello-Aasen ($1.750m)

Thrashers are not trading Wheeler. And if they did, a legit top 6 RW has to come back in return given he is the team's first line RW at the moment.
Ok. Thanx. I just wanted to see what the opinion was.

I completely forgot Redden's cap hit counts against the summer cap for the rest of his deal.

True, he picked Boston over NY based on what Boston could offer him on the ice at that point. There's no point speculating that he would or would not pick NY over Atlanta though....

I like it. He's a guy that never got a real chance in Boston (except his rookie year) and the Bruins awful miserable dump-and-chase-grind-it-out style doesn't suit him.

He's a big body like someone else said but most important he's a PUCK CARRIER which is what you need for a pretty good first line with him as the puck carrier, Stepan the puck distributer, and Gaborik the shooter instead of Gaborik always carrying the puck and getting checked by two defensemen immediately where he can't get an open shot.

Plus Wheeler can finish. I've always liked his game. Reminds me of a bigger, more physical Thomas Vanek a little bit, but with more range to his scoring ability. I still think Wheeler can be a consistent 30 goal / 70 point scorer in this league.

I'm a B's fan and would like to know where you come up with this nonsense? Vanek already had a 43 and 36 goal season by the time he hit 24 years of age.

Wheeler is charmin soft and totally disappeared come PO time. He scored 1 G in 21 PO games and you guys want that on your team. People here totally overrate this guy.

I'm with you on that. Wheeler is a big body that really has never put much together or lived up to expectations. Pass.

Top 3 pick

Reliable 20 goal 40 point guy at the age of 24

Stanley Cup winner

Nah he's not welcome here! Just not Ranger material.

Vanek scores most of his goals from right in front of the net and on the PP. Wheeler has shown he can score from further out. What Vanek has shown that Wheeler has not (and must work on) is a willingness to go to the net but a lot of times that comes after a few years. As a B's fan surely you must remember how long it took Joe Thornton to begin to play a power game? I'm not comparing the two, but just saying a lot of times that skill comes later.

a 20 goal rookie season while not seeing a lot of PP time was something to build on, but the Bruins buried him in their PP depth chart the next year when his numbers went down and incidentally so did all of the Bruins as they played much more defensive with Savard missing a lot of the year, and Lucic. Then this year he got buried some more before getting traded.

Wheeler is a player who has the skills to score 70 points with the right linemates. Him and Stepan have a good thing going...I'd love to see the two of them possibly playing with Gaborik next year.

For some reason I mix bits and pieces of Andrew Ladd and Blake Wheeler. I don't know why I do this.......
