I think this is the key to the whole series...besides the elephant in the room that is the Boucher/Leighton combination.

If the Bruins do win, isn't that a pretty big testament to Claude being not only a good coach, but a great one? Philly on paper should beat us, they have more depth and more talented players both D and O.

Hey guys, just a few observations. I watched your last series and why is it when you play the Habs you look terrible? When you play tougher teams with better talent, you are a much better team, what gives? I know for a fact its going to be an extremely tough series but you might have an edge because so many people think we are going to get the bruins that played the habs, but we won't. Its just weird how Montreal and Bruin games are ridiculously close game in and game out. Look forward to some good games and good luck fellows! I hope the Flyers show up for all the games this series!

We don't match up with MTL very well, they are small and skilled, the Bruins are a more hard nosed physical team.

Montreal and Boston are built completely differently. Montreal has small speedsters that make the Bruins' defensemen look incompetent. They have enough speed to force the Bruins to rush plays.

The funny thing is we don't need our powerplay to be a "powerhouse", we need it to be functional. Hell, I could argue we need it to be bad as opposed to atrocious, which it was against Montreal.

We were 0 - 21 (IIRC) against the Habs in 7 games. If we go 4 - 25 against the Flyers (which is still poor) it could win us the series.

Our PK has to be better and our PP must be better. If they both get just a little better we can win the series because of our distinct advantage in goaltending.

I'm still not voting in the poll and have no idea how this series will go. Clode has to have the series of his life. We have a hate for this team already, he must embrace it and play to the same level of emotion the Flyers will bring. If Clode goes all "control your emotions" on us and loses the matchups we are cooked.

Skimming trough this and other pre-series threads is pretty entertaining. According to half the trolls you'd have thought the Bruins shouldn't even bother showing up because Philly was going to steamroll them. I guess it's a series now...

Montreal just matches up well. They have more speed. They normally play a tough, systematic D, and their goaltender is far and away better than anything Philly will throw in the pipes.

Mentally, it's easier to keep plugging when there's a lesser goalie. When you're behind, you don't think you're out. When you're ahead, you think you can get more. Against a Price-caliber goalie, you worry that you won't come back from behind and you worry that if you give up a lead, you might not get it back.

I don't think we will see the Bruins let up at all series.Even If they go up 3-0 in games

and are up 10 -0 late in the third and the bruins get called for an icing,Julien will take a

time out to make sure his players are fresh.

I'll take him.....this is my hope/wish for Seguin- jets like that and the ability to fire the puck from close to his body that makes it seems faster and tough to pick up. Seguin is not as big but no reason he can't be a player like this someday. Giroux and JRV is a great duo. Freaking scary and why Boston needs to get this game and head home.

No really, how did this lowly team win not only 1 but 2 games on the road against the unstoppable juggernaut that is the Flyers?

Philly's goalies stink.
B's played a disciplined game and didn't give away goals.
Timmy was THE MAN!

Or...was it our power play?

If the Flyers HAVE to win a game, let it be game 3. If we go up 3 games to none and they win game 4, I'll be watching the rest of the series from a hospital bed or the nuthouse.

Anywho, we've had our shelling, our Thomas steal, I think Game 3 is going to be our physical grudge match. A real war with far more fights and hits and cheap shots (on both sides) than most playoff series. In other words, we're going to miss McQuaid.

If we can handle them through that one, I think game 4 is going to be a cakewalk. If they take game 3 we have a series on our hands again.

The best case scenario is that we do get that physical war, and it helps wake Looch up. Gets the old primal juices flowing and gets him in Quasimodo mode. He gets fired up and delivers a hat trick and never looks back.

Limited Pronger, no Gagne, no Carter, questionable tending... Not the same recipe as last year. As set, these rosters are an even match-up with the B's light years ahead in net. Who knows who will win at this point. All I know is I hope it's the B's in 4...!
