Real well done, especially like the logo angle they went for with the anchor being encircled with the rope. '1972' is also a nice touch.

Are new 3rd's suck
The difference is that black is at least part of your color scheme. If you went to blue, you guys would probably feel like we do about going to black.

Not a fan of what the Preds and Panthers did with new color schemes for their thirds, hope we don't go that route.

I actually thought about this while working on the black and white images. Why not remove the colors? It's not like Nassau's been so great to us.

Really nice, but the logo doesn't seem quite right. And god forbid we don't do well. That anchor becomes a massive joke.

And I'm still shocked some lawyer didn't get the logo changed on you/us.
Dark homes are historically accurate and honestly preferable.

You & everyone else should go check out that guys work. He's currently doing all 30 teams in the NHL and he's about 20 or so clubs in. Most of it is really amazing stuff, you'd especially appreciate it Law

Awesome job Darkhorse. I like that one even more than the original one I posted.

Boy, I really hope this black rumor is just that and we get something awesome.

Exactly as DH states.

I don't mind having fun with the uniform for a few games a year as long as you don't make a mockery of it, like the Fisherman logo or adopting the Bloody Rags color scheme.

I loved our Halloween themed practice jersey. And welcome the opportunity to have a cool / creative 3rd jersey. I'd even be fine if the only change we make is to have the original Orange Letters/Numbers or to authenticate it No Letters (like Vancouver's 40th Anniversary Jersey).

Tweaked Cole's logo a bit while combining it with mine. Used my anchor and incorporated our traditional logo into the background of his crest. Also thought the script might look a little better offset and added 'Est' to the year.

I really like the anchor idea is conjunction with 'Est 1972' as it's kind of when the organization set their anchor down.

it's cool, but practically speaking you can't get that ghosting effect on a real jersey as well

It's amazing though that I'm fairly certain that a few of the ideas posted in this thread are going to be better than whatever they show at the draft (i assume they'll unveil it then)

On another note, has anyone who's come up with these mock jerseys sent them to the team? I could see a couple of them being their 3rds. In fact, I would modify them and send em to the sound tigers. They could use a 3rd jersey.

Wow that is absolutely hideous!!

I understand that we are an Island but I dont see how Anchors and other nautical gear resemble the NY Islanders?? Brooklyn and Queens are a part of Long Island and last I checked we aren't a major sea/fishing port that would rival New England or Alaska. I have never seen an episode of Dangerous Catch off the coast of the Hamptons.

Stay with the original logo and spare us the embarrassment!!

You do realize that Long Island had very large fishing and whaling industries at one point right?

Damn shame no one told Billy Joel this before he wrote 'The Downeaster Alexa'...

On a similar topic, you do realize Brooklyn and Queens aren't a part of the silhouette on the original logo, right?

I'd like to see it simple and classic looking - keep the colors as they are but putting diagonal "Long Island" down front with lighthouse patches. Orange numbers with white trim on blue homes. Eliminate names on back as was in '72.

For what it is worth, also met a person from the Islander org this week and they told me that 3rd Jersey designs are a "a secret" and they have not decided yet on design but will soon. Black is definitely in the mix as well as other ideas. Could tell she was dying to tell me more lol.

Not a fan of whole third jersey thing but I do think that is one area the Rangers got right - as well as the Wild.

Only thing I'll mention is that I recall the orange numbers on a blue jersey being very hard to read and I don' think the NHL allows nameless jerseys anymore unless it's some special occasion and request.

RE: Orange #'s on Blue jersey.

I briefly thought of that too. But the Bloody Rags have their Red Numbers on the Blue.

RE: No Nameplates.

They'll do it for the year like the Canucks 40th Anniversary jersey. And the Kings sweet retro Purple and Gold.
