Calgary-Chicago

To Calgary: Niklas Hjalmarsson ($3.5Mx3) and Troy Brouwer ($1.05M RFA)
To Chicago: Robyn Regehr ($4.02Mx2) and David Moss ($1.3Mx1)

Chicago gets bigger, Calgary gets younger.

No thanks.

I don't see Regehr as being that much better then Hjalmarsson, and Hjalmarsson is still very young and improving.

Stats - GP Hits BkS GvA TkA G A Pts +/- PIM

Hjalmarsson - 80 46 166 55 32 3 7 10 13 39
Regehr - 79 180 142 41 12 2 15 17 2 58

And then Moss and Brouwer are meh, Brouwer's far more physical however and less prone to injury.

No thanks.
Only reason Calgary should be trading Regehr for a similar forward or a pick/prospect.

Because stats are really telling for a shut down defenceman like Regehr...Regehr is a significantly better defenceman than Hjarlmarsson.

Brouwer is youngish, but on Calgary would become yet another borderline top 6 guy. This trade makes the Flames a worse team and adds more of what they already have.

As much as I think Brouwer is a great player Regher means a lot to our defense and we'd need to get something pretty special coming back if we dealt him.

Anyone who thinks Hjalmarsson and Regher are remotely comparable doesn't watch them play.

I think the point is that Hjalmarsson is young enough and comparable enough to justify the difference.

Whether you agree or not, I think that's where the 'benefit' is coming from.

Brouwer makes it tempting, but losing Regehr greatly weekends our defense.

I would consider it for sure.

In fact I would take the deal.

I think Hjarmarlsson would fit in nicely with our young blue-line moving forward.

The value is very close IMO.
