Time for a new captain

Richards has not grown into the role of a leader. Give the C to #20, #48, or #28.

Trade #17, #19, #44

If you really think getting rid of timonen and Carter will help better this team next season i'd suggest you go back to the Bruins forum and not post on this board for awhile.

How quickly people forget...

Richards was off his game this playoffs... fine. He is still the heart of this team.

BTW, didn't see much of 20, 48 or 28 this series either.

If you think the Carter fanboys defend their man to the death, you're about to see what the Richards fanboys are made of.

As said in mainboard GDT:

You know what, Mike Richards would raise a lot in my mind if he made a point to go Bob after the game and just have a talk with him. Let Bob know that team let him down this year and not the other way around. Kid needs something good to think about in the offseason.

That would be leadership to me.

Richards laid out to block Shawn Thornton's attmept at the empty net. I guess captains don't do that.

The biggest mistake Holmgren made as a head coach was removing the C from Dave Poulin. It isn't happening again to a sitting captain in a similar capacity.

How about going after the real dogs on this team like braindead matt Carle and the pathetic slop in goal

Bob would understand about 2 words of that convo. And somehow it said through an interpreter would probably lose its desired effect.

Blocking a shot? He sold you on stepping up by blocking a shot in the dying seconds of a blowout elimination game?

Are you kidding me?

Just let him rest for five months... if he sucks next season, let's talk about it. One bad season should not equal demotion from Captain.

I think he would understand the general sentiment of it, which is the most important thing.

You're likely right, but someone needs to sit this kid down and apologize for some of the decisions that were made and play that went on in front of him. Like it was said after your post, the general sentiment immediately after the game would be better than nothing.

You got that right. He did you notice that he blocked a shot with 30 seconds left?

Strikes me more of a job for the coaching staff. Btw, if Richie ever did this, I doubt any of us will ever hear about it. So, whose to say he didn't?
