The Offseason Thread

Let's discuss offseason moves, possible signings, and golf club selection.

I'd like to see Carle moved, and a vet goalie acquired.

UFA GOALIES

Desjardins, C.
Gerber, Martin
Khudobin, Anton
Climie, Matt
Emery, Ray
Hedberg, Johan
Boucher, Brian
Bryzgalov, Ilya
Vokoun, Tomas
Karlsson, Henrik
MacDonald, Joey
Roloson, Dwayne
Auld, Alex
Theodore, Jose
Garon, Mathieu
Osgood, Chris
Leclaire, Pascal
Giguere, J.
Smith, Mike
Lalime, Patrick
Turco, Marty
McKenna, Mike
McElhinney, C.
Budaj, Peter
Conklin, Ty
Labarbera, Jason
Dekanich, Mark
Lawson, Nathan
Brodeur, Mike
Leneveu, David

FLYERS UFAs

Zherdev, Nikolai » F PHI 26 $2,000,000 2011 (UFA)
O'Donnell, Sean » D PHI 39 $1,300,000 2011 (UFA)
Boucher, Brian » G PHI 34 $925,000 2011 (UFA)
Leino, Ville » F PHI 27 $800,000 2011 (UFA)
Clackson, Matt » F PHI 26 $500,000 2011 (UFA)
Ryan, Michael » F PHI 30 $500,000 2011 (UFA)
Boynton, Nick » D PHI 32 $500,000 2011 (UFA)

FLYERS RFAs

Carcillo, Daniel » F PHI 26 $1,075,000 2011 (RFA)
Bordson, Rob » F PHI 22 $900,000 2011 (RFA)
Kalinski, Jon » F PHI 23 $875,000 2011 (RFA)
Nodl, Andreas » F PHI 24 $850,000 2011 (RFA)
Legein, Stefan » F PHI 22 $816,667 2011 (RFA)
Klotz, Garrett » F PHI 22 $800,000 2011 (RFA)
Powe, Darroll » F PHI 25 $725,000 2011 (RFA)
Stewart, Brian » G PHI 26 $600,000 2011 (RFA)
Syvret, Danny » D PHI 25 $600,000 2011 (RFA)
Sestito, Tom » F PHI 23 $577,500 2011 (RFA)

There are 18 NHL players under contract next year, totalling $58,969,155. If the cap goes up 3 million, they will have $3,430,845 to work with. There are $1,700,000 in bonuses but I don't know what that means.

PM me if I have any of this wrong and I'll correct it, or if there's more info you think should be here.

Jim Jackson apparently said during the broadcast that Timonen is considering retirement?

Lose Versteeg, O'Donnell, Leighton, Carcillo, Leino, Zherdev, Boucher.

Hope Nodl comes back from his injury. Hope the other injuries are not too serious.

Acquire goalie.

Try to move Carle and Hartnell, and acquire a solid veteran goalie.

Timmonen is someone i would be intrested in moving. His play the past couple of years has dwindled tremendously. If he retires will his salary count against the cap?

Get rid of Carle before the rest of the NHL finds out that he's ****.

And anything less than Vokoun, Bryzgalov or Roloson is unacceptable.

Well if that is the case, i would not mind seeing him retire. Maybe free up some more cap space and make a move for Weber....an heir to Prongers throne.

1. Get a LEGIT goalie (Bob is the future not the present)
2. Don't resign Leino
3. Trade Carle
4. Get TOUGHER (we got manhandled this series)

They lost a series to a very good team, it must be because they don't care about winning. Herp derp.

Lets run with one offensive player, and the rest just lay in front of the goal... nobody will ever score on us!

Herp derp, the 2nd place team in the East just got their ***** kicked 3 out of the 4 games, and got the nice broom stick out.

I guess them going 11-21 or whatever since February is them just being unlucky and playing very good teams right?

herp derp

My Vague Offseason Plan:
1. Trade Versteeg, Hartnell(NTC), Carle, and Timonen(NMC). Honestly, if I could trade all of them(for solid value, of course), I would. Acquire space and picks/prospects.
2. Sign that #1 goalie. A real one. No Paul, Boucher is not a #1.
3. Prep Wellwood, Gustafsson, and Read to step into NHL roles.
4. If possible, trade Betts for a pick and get Konopka.
5. Fill remaining spots with hardworking players.

Not final lines, just filling in the lineup:
JVR-Richards-Wellwood
Giroux-Carter-Briere
Read-x-x
Powe-Betts-x

Pronger-Mezsaros
Coburn-Gustafsson
x-x

True #1

I guess after being the first team in the NHL to 30 wins and having an early shot at the President's Trophy they just arbitrarily decided to stop trying.

That makes a lot of sense. Really.

They went into a playoff series against a team that represented their worst possible matchup with **** goaltending, a **** powerplay, terrible coaching and while missing their number 1 defenseman and best player.

The logical conclusion is that they simply weren't trying hard enough.

When Pronger gets hurt again, I look forward to see Mezsaros and Coburn carry the team on defense.....
