They absolutely could have if they wanted to. Lars Eller isn't exactly highly touted, and his ceiling is pretty low even if he does reach his full potential.

A combination of picks and prospects could have beat the package the Blue offered up.

This is an after thought and it might be true.

It could have cost more to the Flyers due to them being in the East.

Gauthier most likely sought advice and was told ''not to the East''. Which Hab fans are ignorant to and I might add I am not one.

Yeah, he sucks right? He's only our best goal scorer three years running, our best face-off guy, a good two way player, and our biggest center (by far).

Stellar isn't necessarily required from rookies to be an indication of a bright future.

However, his play this year didn't have much weight on his value last summer, did it?

Lol, obviously not. You said last season Giroux = Eller value wise. Im pretty sure you would disagree with that this year though right?

When I read you calling him an excellent prospect, I was reading it as you stating, write now, today, he is still considered an excellent prospect.

Also this rookie couldnt break into Montreal's top 9...

At 21, he's still an excellent prospect after one NHL season. It also isnt uncommon for the Euro players to take a bit longer.

I have watched most of the Habs games, and Eller did struggle a bit through some of the beginning and half way through the season. But he started to find his groove towards the final playoff push, and stepped it up even further in the playoffs.

I think his lack of point production is also reflective of Martin's system and his line mates. I can see him becoming Montreal's #2 center after next year. Right now Montreal is paying Gomez too much to not have him centering the top lines, but that may change when Gomez's contract is easier to move.

Yeah, it's a shame he can't light the playoffs on fire with a bum shoulder, broken feet, or a sprained knee. WHAT A BUM.

During the last long playoff run that Carter was healthy throughout, 2008, he had 12 points in 17 games; that is basically on track with his regular season point production.

It's hard to play at a high level when you're never healthy.
