Hopefully the Bulls win it all now, Rose is an absolute beast.

Kobe's getting old, he'll play for a few more years though.

The face of the Lakers will be Dwight Howard when they acquire him this off season or next year.

Would be pretty sweet. The only other NBA team I watch besides the Lakers is the Bulls pretty much cause Rose is awesome to watch.

... Funny thing - I find myself agreeing with Kobe. I still see the Lakers winning this series.

The Lakers have made 109 total shots in this series, the Mavericks have made 104, and the Lakers have 144 points in the paint in this series, the Mavericks have 92 ... and yet Dallas is so unconscious (and the Lakers so cold) with jumpers and threes that the Mavericks are up 3-0.

I still see the team that scores from the inside and gets easy buckets winning out over the team that relies upon 20 foot jumpers and threes. The Mavs shot 36% from three during the season, and they're running at 39% in this series. If Dirk can keep shooting 70% from three, then hey, he deserves it; but I don't see it continuing.

The Lakers have committed fewer turnovers, they have more offensive rebounds (they would have more defensive rebounds, but you can't rebound makes), and they've made more baskets. There's no reason why they can't come back and win this series anyway.

So you think the Lakers will be the first team in NBA history...if I'm not mistaken...to come back from being down 3-0 in the series and win 4 in a row?

Hell no they won't come back. It's virtually impossible to do that in any sport and especially difficult in basketball. The Mavs are on a mission, team full of vets that have never won and a coach out to prove something, too. These are a bunch of really good players and an excellent coach that have been shafted before, they are WAY too hungry to lose four straight.

The Lakers, by contrast, are showing no emotion and playing way out of character. The strength of Jackson teams--both in Chicago and Los Angeles--has been the solid definition of roles for each player and the ability to focus and make plays when it matters.

Guys are experiencing all sorts of confusion out there, that was somewhat of an issue during the season but right now almost every player is out of sorts in regard to their role at both ends. They are also missing open jumpers and looking frazzled in crunch time. It took really good individual efforts and a solid two-man play to get the Lakers the buckets they did get late in the game. Those pushes were sandwiched between an extended period of confusion and a brief but critical choke job.

Even Kobe was terrible in the clutch, he turned the ball over, agitated the mood on the floor for his team, missed rotations and committed a dumb foul in the last three minutes or so, terrible close to his game.

... Again, if the Mavs weren't shooting over their heads, we wouldn't even be having this discussion. If they keep doing that, of course they will win the series; and if they keep doing it for another couple of series, they'll win it all. If they don't, they're in trouble.

I wouldn't bet on it, but they'd have a much better chance than most other teams in NBA history of doing it.

As I've stated, I haven't watched any games this year so I'm just asking, are the lakers defense that bad or have the mavs finally figured out the triangle?

If the latter, maybe we should hire Rambis next year to run a rhombus defense.

Just saying.

The Mavs haven't broken 100 points in any of the games yet. Hard to call the defense that bad. It's the Lakers offense which is way down. They are only scoring 89 per game in this series. Both teams basically gave up 96ppg in the regular season and the Lakers scored 101.5 to Dallas 100.2

... Welp, Dallas is still not really missing any shots. 11-15 from three in the first half. Fifteen (and counting) for the game. Well, credit to them. They were red-hot for four straight games; that's pretty amazing and rare. I'm perversely proud that the when the Celtics beat the Lakers in '08 and the Mavericks beat them this season, both teams had to be absolutely unconscious from the outside in order to do it.

And the obvious reason why Kobe is taking so many shots is because everyone else on the team, with the exception of Bynum, doesn't want to shoot the ball. They're open when they get the ball, but they're too afraid to shoot - and their indecisiveness is causing them to not be open anymore, so they're looking to Kobe to save them. He can't save them today.

They had a good run, back to back titles. They'll reload. They won't be away from the elite for long.

Odom and Bynum totally embarrassing themselves and the Lakers organization in the 4th quarter.

I watched some of the first half and couldn't watch it any more.

It's pretty evident that we need a small forward with an outside scoring touch and can also play solid defense. Anyone know when Artest contract expires?

Two completely unnecessary and classless flagrant fouls. Especially the one by Bynum. Both players ejected with Bynum removing his jersey as he walked off the court.

I think Phil Jackson deserved better than that.

Gotta see video.

Either way I fully expect a Bynum+ or Gasol+ for Dwight Howard trade in the offseason

Well Bynum made an ass out of himself and hasn't come close to reaching his potential. Why would Orlando want him?

What potential? He was a late first round sleeper.

I agree that Orlando won't have much interest in Bynum either but who knows.

Cause Howard isn't going to resign there. They need to get something for him unless they wanna follow the James/Cleveland fiasco.
