Wallin wasn't the guy who blew right by his check on the tying goal. Wallin wasn't the one who absolutely failed his check on Datsyuk that led to the 4-3 goal. Marleau was absolutely dreadful defensively. Not to mention that we expect Wallin to be bad, and Marleau is supposed to be one of our best players, and he is playing like one of our worst.
Exactly right. Marleau singlehandedly unraveled his teammates' splendid effort. The question is, what should management, coaches, and captain do about it now?
I'm really trying to be objective here too. I see the Sharks team competing hard and doing their best to block shots and backcheck, EXCEPT for Marleau. He's literally the only person on the team who hasn't bought into the system and coasts away the lead. Okay he's not scoring, and that's fine, but he's a huge liability and that is not something you'd want out of a guy who was known for his two-way play and speed for years.
