Andy Miele joins Team USA roster at the World Championships

In case you didn't know, Miele is not eligible to play for the Coyotes in the playoffs.

It'll be interesting to see how the former Yotes do and of course if Miele can be the offense producing forward while playing with NHL/AHL level players.

Tim Stapleton makes the US roster too. He started the year on San Antonio.

Quite shocked Wheeler accepted and K.Porter didnt. Complete opposite of what you'd expect.

No sign of Miele in game 1 against Austria. The roster is seems young. Derek Stepan is centering the top line!

Montoya is in net.

Pretty good ex Coyote contingent on the USA roster.

I was hoping to get a little glimpse of Miele this morning, but nope, not playing.

With the big ice, the smaller, faster, quicker Miele I would have thought would be a no brainer, and he is one of 12 on the roster.

It doesn't sound too promising for Miele as a prospect if he can't crack the lineup. There are quite a few College players on Team USA. I hope he is injured, otherwise he's not very likely to become a Coyote.

This signing was a long shot from day one. These players so rarely make an NHL impact. I'm glad Maloney was able to roll the dice, and he's a great gamble, but a total long shot none the less. Hopes should not be high. Expectations should be tempered.

I hope this will put the 'superstar Miele' nonsense to rest. Glad we have him in the farm, but expectations need to be dramatically lowered.

From the guys following the tournament...read below, but apparently Gardner and Miele cannot play until round robin play is over.

- Andy Miele and Jake Gardiner are the two guys that will not play in the first 3 games. Neither can be registered and eligible to play until after the round robin so technically they could be replaced but I can't imagine that would happen.

- Jack Johnson made it in time and will play tomorrow morning against Austria. Paul Gaustad and Jack Campbell won't join the team until May 1st.

- Ty Conklin will start the game against Austria.

Miele isn't playing because he isn't allowed to, not because he isn't good enough. Relax guys, you'll get your chance to hate on him, just try not to make up reasons to do so.

I didn't see Diggy's post, until after I posted, but this quote certainly seems like he isn't good enough:

What? The quote states that they have done well and will not be replaced.

The first part of my post didn't make my sarcasm obvious?

In his first eligible game of the tournament Miele assisted on the GWG against France today. Hopefully he can keep earning minutes.

Yesterday OEL got a goal and an assist against France.

U-18s, U-20s, and Super Series. He was amazing. Three zone player, absolutely lethal on the slot, with the puck on his stick.

Turris was amazing versus his peers and I still think he will be a legit top 6 forward in the NHL.

The one nagging concern is his linemates at the u-20 and the Super Series - Claude Giroux and Brad Marchand - have been doing pretty good in the NHL. Maybe they were the reason for his success (ala Sjostrom alongside Getzlaf in the WHL).

Sam Gagner was their center. Turris was slotted in between Tavares and Perron.
