Pembroke Lumber Kings.. 2010-11 National Champions !!!!!!!!!

What a special team. Winning their 5th CCHL championship, the Fred Page title and the league's first National Championship since the Rockland Nationals in 1976. The PLK did this without 1st line winger Chris Bodo, knocked out of the last regular season game of the year with a concussion, 3rd year leader Ted Pletsche, who was not eligible to play since the CCHL championship for academic reasons, and grinder Matt Boudens, lost to a torn MCL in game 3 of the league championship series. Other injuries- Mitch Gallant, torn MCL also suffered in Gmae 3 of the league final, and Eric David, a torn MCL, sufferred in Game 6 vs, Cornwall. All these guys eat rusted thumb tacks for breakfast and enjoy them.

An appropriate way to end a legendary Jr. A career, Ben Reinhardt finished with 5 league championships, 2 Fred Page Cups, and a National Championship, among other individual awards.

Sheldon Keefe, 5 years coaching and managing the PLK, same results as Captain Reinhardt.

Congratulation to the Pembroke Lumber Kings for a season that will never be forgotten.
RBC National Champions!!!

Pembroke Lumber Kings!!! National Champions!

Well what a year!!!

The Lumber Kings have brought great pride to the East in winning this Championship, being the first team in the east to win since the 5 team format.

From the slot , you coined the phrases perfectly.

While the Kings enjoy their championship, the big red machine, will now need to re-tool and im quite sure recruiting wont be that hard with this under their belt.

I can hardly wait to see the 3 flags unveiled at game 1 next season, for the future Kings, hockeytown is the place to play. Dont bet against 6th, as players will want to be there, you can put this franchise name amongst the best in the country.

Pembroke home of the National Champions and 5 Time CHL Champions!!!!

Well Done Kings!

1st of all congratulations to SK and his boys. What a finish for the year.

Now what will next year bring. How do you top this year. One would wonder if SK now will look to yet another challenge? With Gill moving up to "O" , will SK follow?

Anyway enjoy the moment boys, job well done.

Congrats to the Kings! You did the league proud. With the fact that Brockville playerd well at the nationals last year, and Cornwall gave the National champs all they could handle, the league is firmly established.

Congrats to the Kings on winning the title. Saw on twitter that one kid they are getting for next year who signed is Ben Dalpe, played jr b. in Brantford last year as a 16 year old and a 10th round pick in OHL draft, his brother plays in the NHL for Carolina and went the college route to the NHL. His brother is Zac Dalpe and played junior a. in Penticton. Maybe these are the kind of kids we're going to be able to get, and have them stay in ontario rather than going west.

Sheldon does a good job of recruiting and even had a couple of prospects for next year come to a playoff game to see the atmosphere of the PMC in the playoffs, with the great crowd support.

No other talk about Wellington and Kingston joining the league, when you look at a map from Pembroke its about the same distance as travelling to Hawkesbury. Talk about a power division though with Cornwall, Brockville, Kingston and Wellington being in a conference together.

I was at the parade they had for the kings tonight and what a turn out there had to be 1500 peple there with music and speeches. The league should be proud of this glassie team that gives the league a good name. The city of pembroke should be doing stuff for the team

Congrats to Pembroke, it is great for the league and will help all teams recruit players.

Now that the RBC is over teams can start trading again. This weekend is the Prospects Camp at the Sensplex folllowed by the draft. With all the GM's together a few times over the next week I would expect to see some trades. Hopefully the league will post them quicker than in the past.

The draft should be interesting this season, now that Bantam aged players are, available how will teams draft? In the past only a small percentage of players drafted after the 4th or 5th round end up playing in the league, on the top teams most do not get more than a player or two. My guess is that the top 3 or 4 rounds will be mostly non Bantam aged players with teams hoping to protect players capable of playing some this season, the middle rounds will be more Bantams then the later rounds will be a mix.

Interested to see what players are moved as a result of "future considerations" deals done at the deadline last year. I heard Rangers owe something to K-ville for the Curley trade..any idea who that may be.....also is it true that Borkowski's right revert back to Cumberland this year?

Why would one want to quit a team that is hosting FPC? I have not heard that, but think of this scenario. For their 25th anniversary season they bring back Archie Mulligan to lead them to the Fred Page Cup. What a story.

Here's what I know:

Adam Dewan will not be the Stallion's head coach next season. He quit last week.

Billy Ulrick has been traded to the Kemptville 73's for Thomas Lafontaine, Morgan
Hudson, and a 10th round pick in 2012.

Jordan Giguere has been traded by Kemptville to Gloucester for Mason Nowak.

Brendan Lesway will sign with Kitchener during the weekend. However, his rights have been traded to Nepean for a 2nd round pick

Last Five Years in CJHL - Records for Regular Season and Playoffs
Pembroke - 232 wins 66 defeats (playoffs - 60 wins vs 15 defeats)
Brockville - 198 wins and 100 defeats (playoffs - 28 wins and 25 defeats)
Cornwall - 165 wins and 133 defeats (playoffs 18 wins and 19 defeats)
Nepean - 160 wins and 138 defeats (playoffs - 27 wins and 23 defeats)

Best indicator of future performance is past performance.

2011-2012 Pembroke wins a 6th straight league title.

I think it is probably fair to assume that both the Ulrick and Nowak trades are just finalizing the Curley & Rowbotham trades which both had "futures" attached. Probably agreed upon at trade deadline but Gloucester and Cornwall wanted the two players in their line-up for the rest of the season. If I remember correctly Giguere's rights were sent to Kemptville as part of the Curley trade, 73's just holding on to his rights for Rangers until Nowak's rights were transferred.

Apparently both Borkowski and Jenkins rights revert back to their former teams, they were basically rental players.

Kanata is owned by John Russo who has a son on the team, Unfortunately his son would not be a good junior B player, Adam was probably told that he had to play the kid and knowing what is at stake told the owner where to go. If that is how it went down good for Adam.

Wondering how sk will be able to replace all the players leaving now to college. I was very impress with all the younger players this year, but feal he will have to bring in at least six top forwards and two d-man to make another run, should be interesting if the local kids could step up to the next level.
