On the rules: The Jury of your peers/signing thing is needlessly convoluted IMO.
Games like this should be kept as simple as possible. We'll be lucky to get half the posters in on time to make their selections, let alone "vote" on whether a signing is feasible.

You don't need to have half the poster in to say whether or not a signing is feasible. Like three people would be good enough. Someone signs Richards for five million? not feasible. 6.5+? Sure.

Easy peasy.
Eh... I still prefer the "extending the former contract" rule, with 15/% increase for RFA's (basically, Qualify them).
Don't get too caught up on the details. The main focus of this thing is the draft and trading is just a bonus. The rules are just there so that players aren't signed for considerably less then what they are making and to prevent teams from trading away all-star calibre players just for the sake of picking up a 5th round pick.
Also if you come to a deal with another team you can PM me but it won't be announced until trading begins tomorrow.
just to let you guys know--I am heading PAris friday so I will be off line starting at about 8pm Thursday---so if you have a trade offer for TO get them in before I vanish

Rumours out of Calgary are suggesting that Jarome Iginla may be on the move to Boston as soon as the trade freeze is lifted. The new GM "DousedInOil" had this to say.
"Jarome is a great part of the team but our new staff are listening to any and all offers. No one is untouchable right now and if we see something that we think will help our team in the future then we will persue that option."
Sources close to the flames are suggesting that the asking price for the star winger is a series of picks and prospects.
SALARY CAP:65.33 million CAP PAYROLL: 52,135,730 (Jamie Benn's bonus money will move on to his new team) BONUSES: James Benn had a bonus & he is gone CAP SPACE ( 15 man roster): 13,194,270
ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS
Last remaining needs are physical 3rd & 4th line players.
#1 Center (Brad Richards); Signing Comments: so hard to find #1 Centers with leadership abilities, also has alot left in the tank
First Line C/RW (Pierre Marc Bouchard)
Comments: can play wing or Center, with acquisition of Bouchard you have now 2 strong lines (this one will be another strong defensive line)
#2 Center Martin Hanzal
Out: Mike Ribeiro
Need 2 top wingers (1st-2nd line) Michael Ryder
Comments: can provide goal scoring also with Eriksson (very unheralded and underrated for his defence & offense) this will be a crazy good line. Bottom Line: Ryder made Benn expendable Out: Jamie Benn
#1 Dman (strong 2 way D-man) acquired 2
Rostizlav Klesla
Comments: Needed someone that could be a top 4 guy
James Wisniewski Out: Stephan Robidas
Power play D-man (Alex Goligoski) & Brian Duboulin (can play either unit) Out: Trevor Daley
Defensive Defenseman w/limited offense
Yannick Weber Out: Mark Fistric (was a more physical D-man hopefully got that with) Klesla
Comments: Duboulin will be a hell of a D-man top 4 rating right now, he only gets better and handles unbelievable amounts of pressure.
Weber only needs to be good not great and this will help him excel
Wisniewski is a jack of all trades (similarities to Ian White)
Untouchable Players
Brenden Morrow
Jack Campbell (no offers)
Kari Lehtonen (entertaining offers)
Steve Ott (will entertain offers)

Thanks, Another question when is the start date for UFA Signings
If you have their negotiating rights... now. Heh.
If they're another team's UFAs, u can either try and trade for their rights or you're probably SOL because I don't see us going past that draft in this game into Free Agency.
The Hurricanes have made several signings (IF OKAYED)
Re-Signed E. Cole 3yrs-6m Staal/Cole magic undeniable
Re-Signed J. Jokinen 2yrs-6m
Re-Signed J. Pitkanen 4yrs-20m
Re-Signed B. Sutter 4yrs-10m
Re-Signed D. Joslin 2yrs-1.6m
Re-Signed B. Sanguinetti 2yrs-2m
Re-Signed O. Osala 1yr-1.0m
Rumor is they are also looking to package up 3rd and 4th rounders to move back up into the 2nd.
They have also put several players on the block:
Drayson Bowman - Looking for RW prospect as they have a log jam of young LWs/ package with 12th pick to move up(can package with more to move up)
J. Corvo - offer or 3rd/4th line help/ picks
T. Gleason - as part of a package to upgrade defence/picks
The NHL is reporting a few very important last minute changes to the NHL schedule. With almost everyone having their HQ's setup and only 2 spots remaining the NHL draft will commence friday the 13th! The actual draft selections will be in a different thread that I will create in roughly 24 hours. The two remaining teams will have their draft selections voted upon (first player to three votes) will be selected. This player MUST be on the board and can be veto'd by the commissioners if they feel like foul play was at work.
In addition, trades are now in full effect. Please feel free to trade as much as you like but submit all trades to myself or ThePerfectStorm before posting in this thread.
