Meszaros with wrist operation.

In the last match he skated 30 minutes, without any bandage on wrist.

I guess Betts probably did have problems with faceoffs because of the finger. No idea that Versteeg and Mez were playing hurt.

I do remember Mez throwing a hit, and skating off holding his wrist in the last couple weeks of the season.

As for Versteeg, it does make me much less critical of his performance.

How someone can even think of moving while having a hernia is kinda ridiculous.

Considering the way he was routinely getting laid out during games, and the way he always sprung right back up and jumped into play again, I'm actually pretty impressed.

Maybe that is why his dangling sucked?

How come no mention of Holmgren's obvious mental malady?

While we're having all these surguries, any chance we can sneek Carcillo in for a brain transplant?

Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Chris Pronger to undergo back surgery Friday. Been a tough year for the big guy.

I'm starting to lean towards the idea of letting Leino go and keeping Versteeg... It's actually a bit more realistic because of the price Homer payed. Realizing that he had a hernia makes his performance kind of incredible to me (my mother had a hernia, she could barely move).

Anybody know how serious Pronger's back surgery is? Today is the first I heard of it.

The official word:

Quote:
GM Paul Holmgren announced that Chris Pronger will have surgery tomorrow in New York. The procedure is called a discectomy.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

If you go by Howard Eskin (and his sources), recover time is minimum six weeks.

Sources tell me Flyers Chris Pronger will have in back surgery tomorrow to remove the herniated disc. Recovery time at least 6 weeks.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2011/...gn=DTN+Sports:

Quote:
Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Chris Pronger will undergo surgery on his back Thursday.

The 36-year-old veteran blueliner appeared in just three of 11 playoff games for the Flyers this year due to a lower back problem and was limited to 50 regular season games because of numerous injuries.

Thursday's procedure will be his fourth surgery in the past 12 months. Pronger had knee surgery last summer as well as further procedures on his knee and foot.

ugh..I don't know about anybody else but this is disconcerting to me. No player that I can recall for the Flyers that has had back surgery has ever been the same...main ones are Howe and LeClaire. Obviously Parent and Leighton who were challenged talent wise to begin with are not good examples.

Like I've said....I think Pronger from here on in will be playing about 50 games a season at best (this past year was the first). It will be like Howe back in the day....hoping for him to come back in the lineup and make a difference which he would. Remember seeing the Flyers record with him in and out of the lineup.

Luckily Desjardins eventually came but we ran him into the ground and his 3 year old son busted his wrist with his high velocity throwing arm and it snowballed from there

Finally, Holmgren's comments yesterday about Pronger's health were silly. Yeah you can try and compare him to Recchi and his durability...that is that Pronger takes good care of himself and some of the injuries are freak injuries like the hand...but even though in his past career he's been pretty durable he hasn't been 36 years old in those prior years or the wear and tear of added games over the years hasn't taken it's toll. Sorry but back and knee injuries don't get better with age regardless of prior years being generally healthy. I mean just more silliness and denial by Holmgren...

Yeah, this sort of thing at Pronger's age doesn't fill me with hope and good feeling. I guess we'll see how it plays out.

Every situation is unique within itself but Jimmy Watson's chronic back woes led to spinal fusion surgery and ultimately his career ended far too early.

"Center Mike Richards will have surgery to repair a torn wrist ligament injured during training camp"

If it was injured in training camp why is it getting taken care of now?
