Is Game 7 the biggest/most important game in Sharks history?

If they win, well we defeat arguably the most hated and biggest rival in franchise history, in the most satisfying of ways and enter hockey's final four. If we lose, it may be the end of Marleau and others in a Sharks uniform.

No, not really.

If we win, it's not a big deal. If we lose, it's the biggest choke yet (arguably).

I'd say yes, simply because of the sharks "choker" status.

All these anaylists constantly remind everyone about the sharks past failures, however blowing a 3-0 lead would forever label us the fans, and the organization as chokers.

Oh hells yeah. If we lose tomorrow any semblance of a winning environment DW has tried to build is all down the drain and will prolly make it even harder to get top tier UFAs to come out here.

Like for serious. We win? Jawesome next round. We lose? The org is ****ed like a sleazy craigslist *****.

Yes it is the biggest single game. It's the latest playoffs and the Sharks have never won the Cup, so the playoffs they still have a chance in is going to be the most important one until that first Cup is won. Also, it is tied with the deepest game 7 the Sharks have faced. Couple that with the 3-0 start and the added implications put this game beyond anything they have faced to date.

The sad thing is, the upside is limited. A win simply puts us in the conference finals, where we've been before. But a bad result will stick with the Sharks for years.

Biggest single game only because a loss would solidify the team has playoff non performers and there will likely be some kind of shakeup within the organization.

A win... Well we dodge a bullet and go on to play in the Conference finals at maybe our best shot of getting the cup since we match up a lot better against Vancouver than we did Chicago last year.

It's a big game for the franchise, and I have to agree with some that the upside is more limited than the downside.

The downside is joining that same group of North American Pro Sports Teams that have fully blown a 3-0 series lead. Being one of the four NHL teams to do it, and one of five overall (includes Yankees) puts the Sharks into a legendary status in a very very bad way. Until now, the whole Sharks choking reputation is limited to the hockey world. Lose Game 7 here and it will be something mentioned on ESPN for decades to come. In fact, because of the situation, the Sharks are being mentioned A LOT on ESPN these days. This is a time when I want the Sharks to win, causing ESPN to forget about the Sharks (and hockey) again. We don't need the Sharks to become a household name as a laughing stock.

The upside is beating the Wings and moving on, but really this is all about avoiding infamous history, since nobody remembers teams that blew 3-0 series leads, but won Game 7. But everyone remembers those teams to get the reverse sweep handed to them.

Right now, yes. I don't think we will look back at this in the same respect as we do the 1994 series, even if we win it in dramatic fashion, simply because of the huge difference in expectation.

I believe if the Sharks win, the fanbase, including us, will feel relief more than anything. Relief with moving on, relief with beating the Wings, and most importantly, relief from become a part of infamous history.

Anonymous polls were invented in Nazi Germany. They should be not be exercised on HF!

yes, it is easily our most important game. because we won the first 3, if we were to lose this game, we would go in the history books as one of 4 teams (boston, pitts, detroit) to blow this lead. along with baseball (ny), we would be in a cinqfecta of fail. whenever future teams talk about chokes, they will refer to our sharks team, forever and ever. getting swept would have been 100% more preferable.

Game 7 and we have Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau while the other side has Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg. This is so unfair.

Yes. Yes it is. Lose this game and the choker label will never disappear.

It's hard NOT to say "Yes". This team has not been around very long and has not had a lot of important games.

I live out here as a Bruins fan, and follow the team and I can honestly say this team has played very very well the 2nd half of year... winning those grind them out kind of games, games that San Jose had no business winning but some how they did.

San Jose NEEDS to win Game 7... Lose to Vancouver, fine. But they need to get past Detroit. San Jose has played too well for their season to end this week.

They will never live it down, I will never live it down.

Eh...wouldn't say they're the most "hated". I think Anaheim takes the cake in that regard.

I've wanted that on elections.

Edit: Doubt it's the biggest ever because our entire core is in multi-year deals with NTC/NMC's. There just isn't a lot to do in the offseason unless players *want* to leave.

It would be the choke of all chokes if they lose tonight. Past chokes will be nothing compared to this.

Sharks already have a choker label. It will be pushed to epic proportions if they don't win tonight.
