Toronto Sun:Cujo and Mogilny on the move

Quote:
Goaltender Curtis Joseph is pondering an offer from the Phoenix Coyotes, a league source saying last night that the ball is in the hands of the former Leaf and his agent, Don Meehan
Quote:
Rumours of Alex Mogilny heading to the Florida Panthers to join Gary Roberts and Joe Nieuwendyk continue to circulate. General manager Mike Keenan has about $15 million US in cap space remaining, one of the few teams that can afford the $3 million to $4 million Mogilny reportedly is seeking.

The Panthers have no one to play right wing and sun-seeker Mogilny wouldn't mind being in a good climate in a community where many Russian born players have settled. But the state of his surgically repaired hip has scared some other clubs off

Those moves would make sense.

Ok, 2-3 mil would make more sense, but I did mean the teams would make sens. Mogily to Florida, with Roberts and Niewendyk came from Toront, Florida have cabspace, which have not many teams anymore. And Phoenix nead a Goalie.

Much more than 2 million is a stretch (at least to me) for a consistently injured, old winger.

To me of more concern than the money is the length of contract. All the UFA's Keenan has been signing have been to one or two year contracts so he would have room to make a maximum offer to Luongo in two years when he can become a free agent.

I doubt Joseph really has all that much to ponder, where else is he going to get a starting job?

Hoping not more than $2 mill or 2.5 mill max per year and no more than 2 years. And not sure how comfortable I am at 2.5.

That would be a good signing for Phoenix. Joseph's value has gone down a lot, but he was great in the playoffs for Detroit, but his team couldn't score for him.

I heard Toronto was in talks with Florida for a trade. The deal includes Carlton the Bear for Stanley C. Panther, any confirmation on this?

I think that Mogilny will end up in Washington on a one year contract with a club option for another. That way he can be traded to any number of quality cup contending teams at the deadline rather than taking a chance on going down in flames for Mike Keenan.

I would expect the club option to not be picked up and he could be a ufa again.

Mogilny shouldn't demand more that 2 million with his health in question

Don't forget there's plenty of Geriatric Physicians down here to take care of his hip problems...
