Wings want to move East and claim 1st right to move but I think the Preds to Southeast make alot more sense

Wings are still the primary draw for road games in West and the NHL would be taking a gamble losing that.

Also I expect Wirtz to put up a hell of a fight against Wings moving

Hawks have lost Maple Leafs and North Star rivalries because of Leafs shift to East and Stars move to Dallas. Losing the Wings would be another devastating blow

The Norris division would be reduced to just the Blues and Hawks

I've assumed they would just move Nashville to the Southeast.

The Red Wings claim they have dibs on switching. And they're wrong.

Actually, Columbus was supposed to as part of their entry into the league. Columbus was supposed to move to the East after the 2003 playoffs, or after the first time they made the playoffs (which ever came first). Toronto was supposed to be the team they switched with, but the league decided that it was more profitable to keep the Leafs in the East and have rivalries with the Senators and Canadiens. In the following years, I've never seen anything where the Blue Jackets had right taken from them. Geographically, Columbus is in a bad spot in the NHL. They've been unable to get traction in the Western Conference, and they should probably have a chance in trying to build a natural Pennsylvania-Ohio rivalry with the Penguins. However, I think if the opening is in the Southeast, the Predators will switch. There's no way the league will have any sort of realignment where the Flyers end up in the southeast.

nashville is a central timezone city, detroit is eastern. also, nashville would have to travel more for their games against SE teams than they would against teams in the central division as its currently aligned.

but it would make sense to just throw them into the SE and give MIN their spot in the central.

So I'd say it would be down to Detroit and Columbus.

well considering ATL leaves a hole in the southeast division, it'd make sense for the league to fill it with nashville, even if its slightly geographically inconvenient.

personally, i'd like to see detroit in the east for the sake of some epic rivalries.

Obviously, if nashville were to move easy, it would be to replace atlanta in the southeast division. However, If Detroit does get moved east, how would the divisions pan out? Sadly, it would make sense geographically for them to move us into the southeast division... I really hope that doesn't happen, and I doubt the league would let the heated and historic rivalries with the rangers, devils and penguins dwindle due to realignment.

What a game. What a goal by Datsyuk. He's so insanely good. How close he was to tie it with that slapper, too...

everyone wants the red wings in the east now.. just wait until they stand between the flyers and the SCF.. which they undoubtedly will if they get moved.

You've reverse-jinxed the Jackets. Watch them win the cup next season, beating us in the conference finals

Rj umberger scores from center ice on Michael leighton in game 7 OT, but the goaltending, however, will not be the issue.

What a game that was! I was so happy to see the Sharks win

- Logan Couture is such a great player, he plays the game well, no shortcuts, he's well spoken in his interviews and is such a character off the ice (on Twitter and what not)
- Joe Thorton was an absolute Beast
- It was nice to see Marleau redeem himself and stick it to his critics
- The only downfall of seeing the Wings get eliminated is knowing we won't be seeing Datsyuk play until next year, the man is just on another level.

I thought the Sharks team was just a bit better than Detroit and that's why they advanced. It also helps that they were a lot healthier (man were the Wings dropping like flies), Vancouver vs San Jose should be fun.

During the regular season Datsyuk just gets forgotten behind all the Crosby/OV and recently, Stamkos hype. I've never understood it.

Good lord, what a dull crop of teams remain. Cheering for Boston the rest of the way, but under protest and honestly I'm likely to skip several games in favor of watching the Phils.

I think I have to pull for Gagne and Recchi. I just can't care about SJ or Vancouver.

Might as well. Looks like the East is going to win this year, Canucks and Sharks aren't allowed to win Cups.

I'll be rooting for TB. Considering I had to watch them for about 40 games last season, I became a small fan.

anyone but Boston. I have had enough of the Boston fanbase in every sport. The Bruins winning would make me puke.
