Back-up

I know the Hawks have probably the greatest amount of depth between the pipes compared to others; so this should make for some interesting battles amongst the netminders.
Who do you guys feel has the best chance at cracking the back-up position this season?
And who will be the 2 goalie in the AHL this season???

Anderson will be the backup. Leighton and Crawford will split time in Norfolk.

Anderson is my choice to back up. But I think it is fairly clear that both Leighton and Anderson will rotate the back up job each getting in about 10 starts or so for the season.

In Norfolk I expect Crawford and whichever guy is not with the Hawks to play tandem. This year will be the last chance for Anderson and Leighton to show which one is better and one should be dealt by the end of the season so that Mike Brodeur can join the Admirals.

Why Anderson ahead of Leighton? I thought Leighton carried himself better in 03/04, and he had a strong season in the A last year...

Of course, that means that he might fetch more in trade later this year, as Norfolk is looking good for 06/07 with Crawford and Brodeur.

Anyway, just curious.

Its a tossup btween the two at this point, all in all they are pretty equal. Anyone who gives a definitive answe on this is jus offering you their opinion. And neither has any real trade value, they would be lucky to net a 5th roound pick if even that.

anderson and leighton are equal so far... no clear cut winner in this battle of the backups ... probably both will see time in the bigs as the Bulin walls backup
