Evgeny Artyukhin

Is he on a contract for next year? Would anyone consider him an option?

I would LOVE to have him on the team, VERY hard worker and hits like a monster!

I don't think he'd demand huge salary... and I read he wanted to play in the NHL, but more than 8 mins a night...
source:http://www.russianhockeyfans.com/nhl...om-khl-16.html

Can we haz him?

^^ He has been interesting to me for awhile, and while, like you, watching the game, I'm thinking he'd be a huge body on the 4th line.

Well he certainly plays Flyers hockey. No question about that. He did have a highlight reel goal last season IIRC where we went end to end and scored. His skills are pretty underrated but I think he could crack this lineup.

I think he is an upgrade over Carcillo, Nodl and MAYBE Powe - I don't see a lot of his play, but in this tourney he has been good in both ends of the ice.

I would LOVE to get Artyukhin. He was one of my favorite players when he was in Tampa. He could give us some much needed size up front. And he hits like a train

I was very angry we gave up on him in Anaheim. He's also got skill to go with all of his grit and speed. This guy is extremely underrated. I can't believe how fast of a skater he is for his size.

I was going to say he "wowed" me when the Ducks visited, I can't fathom how noone wants this guy. And its not like he sucks either. How do you keep Ruutu and Marchant and dump this guy?

Would be an upgrade over Zherdev probably and exactly what Flyers fans want to fill their roster out with.

I got to see him play for the Pensacola Ice pilots of the ECHL when he first came over, then watched him with Tampa Bay etc....He has some good skills, and is a good skater for his big size, but at times he seems like he is just floating and not really using his big body and skills to his advantage.....Some games he looked like he was ready to break out and really make a big impact in the NHL then other times you would not really notice him.....He was pretty young when i saw him play, not sure if he has changed much or not ?If a coach like Lavy can get him motivated, he could certainly help our club out.

Evgeny Artyukhin could definitely be an option to replace Shelley (unlikely) or Carcillo.
Powe is more mobile and more versatile imho.

Does he speak English? How much would he want?
Also, we have Sestito who may be a cheap fit for the same role.

The thing is, does Sestito have the speed and maybe the hands of Art? I'm just curious.

Do the stats not tell the whole picture of Art? He seems that he doesn't do much in the point department.

No thanks. Correct me if I'm wrong but he had a lot of the same "motivational" issues that Z had, no? I don't really want to experiment on another player like that.

All money should be used for solving the goalie issue first. After that, then we ought to look for signing FAs.

with his style of play and size he will be Carcillo 2.0 - 2 minutes for stepping on the ice

He is making some dangerous tackles outside of the puck, take lots of penalties outside of the situations etc. Honestly I think he is quite stupid player. Artyukhin with brains would be nice.

Sestito doesn't have the speed nor the hands of Art. Stats NEVER tell the whole picture of a player.

He didn't have a lot of the same "issues" that Z had/has..... He worked his balls off in Ana and TB. He wasn't getting the ice time, so he left.

I agree he does take some bad penalties time and again, or at least he did. That was the frustrating part for him... and I would hope and believe since that he has changed his game a bit, not so reckless.

He is better than 98% of our prospect pool and can hit like a motherF. I couldn't picture him as a 3rd line guy, but we had Nodl and Carcillo in that role and he is WAY better than them.

I don't disagree at all, but we need to fill the void on Carcillo & Powe (which I think will be resigned) if they don't get resigned. He is a cheap alternative. Just ideas.
